Not a whole lot - this company used to make Gheenoes on contract - mostly a brand name difference.

GhostTech1 Great question. The 13' is definitely a one man plus kid or occasional visitor boat. For a dedicated 2 man plus gear you will definitely need to step up to the 15 foot version. I am thinking of selling my 13 foot and buying a 15 footer and putting a 10 hp outboard on it.

Absolutely!. So far I have removed the storage area which really opened up the floorspace. I put a 6 hp Evinrude on it and am looking for a trailer. Will have a full update before next trapping season. Probably sometime in September.

I love this Riverhawk 13 boat! If you don't mind me asking....but I'm curious what you paid for it, even though it was a floor model. I'm hoping I can find one up here in Michigan.

+BrassTurds I paid right at a thousand dollars for it new. I am really liking it. They are made in Georgia and don't have any dealers up there, but there are some to be found on Craigslist if you search often. Also search for "Gheenoe" as they are virtually the same boat. I am currently building a push pole with a mud foot on it as this type of boat is easier to pole than paddle when you get in the real shallow stuff.

I have an oldtown predator square stern canoe that I put a 3.5 hp motor on. Before I bought it I looked at the rivermaster. Surprisingly my canoe holds up to 850 pds. I love my oldtown. It can definitely get in places a jon boat can't. I bought a trailer for it. Loading and unloading out of the back of my pick up got old. I'm older and wiser so a trailer is the only way to go. Plus, its easier to get in and out of the water when there is no boat ramp. When loading, I extend my boat winch with extra rope and simply winch the canoe up to where its just to the trailer. Then slide the nose up on the trailer and winch some more. And, I don't have to load and unload all my stuff out of the boat. You have a nice boat there. Thanks for the good work and independence!

+Charles Howell Yeah a trailer is on my list - but down the road a bit. I'm a cash only man - no debt, so I have to save for everything. I am thinking a jet ski trailer with a long tongue would work good. What is your advice on a trailer? I want a trailer so I don't have to load and unload so many times. Would be a real time saver (and back saver).

I am going to post a video on the motor as it is giving me trouble - it dies out at full throttle like it its gas starved. I have replaced the spark plug and shot gumout carb cleaner into the carb, which helped some - but not fixed completely. I think I'm going to have to rebuild the carb.

Very nice looking boat. A perfect trapping, hunting and fishing boat for the places I like to go that's for sure. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to seeing more videos with you and the new boat. We're about 4 months away from seeing water here in the north and I'm already getting the fishing bug... Not getting out trapping this year is making for a very long winter. Spring can't come soon enough. Great review

Yep the Riverhawk people split off from gheenoe and formed their own company some years ago. Very similar molds.

What a timely video. I have an Old Towne canoe that exhibits similar stability. it's pointed on both end and a little longer. Trouble is the sun has gotten to it and I need to replace it. How much does that one weigh?

+Michael Marriam This boat weighs right at 100 pounds. It's made of fiberglass and is pretty sturdy. I had an older duck boat skiff that had a "jello effect" when you walked around in it. This has a very solid feel. I load it in the back of my Ford Ranger, loading the square stern in first so it fits flush against the rear of the bed. The bow is the light end so I do not have to use my hitch extender to haul it. Just throw and go.

+Ken Collins Great question. The primary reason was stability. I have been in square stern canoes, which can take the same motor (3 hp aircooled 2 stroke). Some of them have an even greater capacity and are lighter (this boat weighs 100 lbs). But no canoe I have ever been in is anyone close to this stable. A lot of guys who are into fishing big time will build an elevated platform to stand on and get greater height than can be achieved by standing on the seat area. I'm getting older and the water gets colder each year. I wanted to be able to lean over the side and pull beaver in rather than constantly get in and out. I also wanted to be able to stand up and shoot without any fear of going swimming.

They make a 15 footer which is bigger and better for 2 people, but you really need a trailer for the 15 footer. I wanted to be able to throw it in the back of the truck and didn't want to be limited to boat ramps to launch. Hope this helps explain my decision making process. I'll have a review of the motor soon - still working through some issues with it.
