Opinion on quiver killer vs the dream catcher pretty please

Hey Jared, thanks for commenting. The Dream Catcher does carry more foam through the nose than the Quiver KIller. It paddles faster to get you into bombs early and the narrower rounded pin tail will offer superior control at high speeds.

Also looks like there's way more foam up front than the quiver killer think it will paddle and be just as fast as the quiver killer if not more so?

Hey Jared, Thanks for writing in. The Dream Catcher pulls into a narrower pin tail, while the Quiver Killer keeps more width through the tail. The Dream Catcher feels more stable at high speeds and sticks like glue to steep barreling faces while the Quiver Killer carries more speed and likes to make more turns. Both are sick boards but ride differently. What else is in your quiver? and what size waves are you chasing with this new board? Cheers - Ashlon

Hello All,

I recently purchased a Dream Catcher and absolutely love it. I looked for several months for reviews online and couldn't find much helpful feedback so i decided to chime in.

This board is a wave catching machine and does exactly what its advertised to do. While it is not great in the small stuff or for a vertical style of surfing, it really does excel in larger barreling waves. It allows me to catch the wave a second or two earlier and has no problem out running the lip on late/steep takeoffs. If your looking for a board to enhance your barrel riding this is the one.

I recently took this board to PR and had it in some solid well overhead surf. I did not feel under gunned at all. It paddled great at the points/in currents, and had no issues making sections or catching waves in large crowds.

If you do decide to purchase this board go by the chart for sizing as recommended by the shaper. I would not try to sneak in extra volume for more paddle power or it will feel like too much board. I went with a 5'8 and probably could have gone an inch shorter. (im 5'9 and 160ish)....All in all I love the board and would recommend it to anyone looking for a barrel machine.

I have an al merrick flyer which works great in small waves but I would like to try and step up my game and go bigger, would this board be good for a novice surfer like me?

@Keith Cornelius The Dreamcatcher has a wide range of use thanks to the tighter rounded-pin tail. The tail setup helps hold in larger, punchier surf. The Flyer design is pretty versatile just like the Dreamcatcher, so you'll need to choose the right size Dreamcatcher to really have some variety in your quiver. Most bigger waves require more paddle power, meaning you probably want your Dreamcatcher to have some more volume than your Flyer.

If you're having the opposite problem, where your Flyer is paddling into the waves fine but it's so buoyant you're slipping out on the wave, then you probably need to lose some volume and order your Dreamcatcher with a little less volume than your Flyer.

@Tyler Smith yes the Dreamcatcher does well in small waves due to its low entry rocker and lots of foam in the design. For even better small-wave performance, add a dedicated groveller to your quiver like the Roberts Dream Machine:
