the top priority for me at least Is it as much fun as when you are
cutting through the waves n get that huge feeling of excitement n satisfaction knowing if you throttle too much too little the next wave will cover you over like a mountain of water or slump so hard into the next wave you may break something, same time been retractable as it will save on Fuel is very welcome am sure at times except when u r in the mood to have some Real exciting fun

Absolute bollocks. I used to crew/helm Rodriguez hydrofoils carrying 200 people over 100 feet long, check out the hydrofoil blog here on youtube and see proper hydrofoils at work, The Italians use them daily. This gimmicky piece of crap has no aft foiling system and no control surfaces/flaps on the foils. The lifting area on these foils is small and for real lift a foil is needed across the full beam and beyond (on powered craft). With the bow up on the foils, it looks like a dog with worms dragging its' arse along the floor, in reality, offering an unstable ride with the angle of trim such that the aft area will just slam through the chop. Complete rubbish and I hope they don't go any further. If one of the foils stalls this could cause injury.

I like this invention. Not from fuel point of view but looks like smoother ride and softer against waves. Will love to see more movies offshore or with waves. My only concerns: how to tow such boat ? RIB is well know as boat safe to dock to another boat. These items reach out of the tube range. It could be the problem. Many modern race sailboats use such solution. Is it require to mount engine lower than usually ? Or just add something to prevent spray ? The hull of the RIB looks like ALU. Is it really GRP model ?

the engine has a longer shaft. Otherwise, when retracted the foils change nothing. When docking, they go under the pontoon, on hard docks, they are thinner than the fenders.

Up to 50cm the boat is incredibly stable and flat. After that, it does of course hit the waves but will always be safer and more comfortable than the same RIB without foils

What about 1m waves. I use mine RIB boat in Greece mostly and on evenings 4-5BF from open Sea is normal

I really hope that this is just an early prototype. Those foils seem to have no stability control (neither a submerged control surface appendage nor a surface-piercing foil). It is basically just a seesaw. The waves bounce the bow and stern up and down uncontrollably. Not ready for market.

Robbie, at this point I agree. But...I can see them used to bring the hull part-way out to reduce drag. This could be a great tool to increase efficiencies. Thanks for posting.

Robbie Surfer: Perhaps not the best viewpoint but one you're entitled to. But remember 30 years ago when Windsurfing had reached a peak and was driving towards removing it's seed corn entry membership by rapidly progressing to shorter, faster and expert user only boards; kitesurfing suddenly appeared. The phrases "it'll never catch on", "that looks dangerous" were bandied around then. Now look at kitesurfing and the global explosion it has become. You can't stop progress and for me the key aspect is a 30% increase in fuel efficiency. I'll just recommend the way the sailing world is going wild for foiling dinghies and windsurfers...
