I appreciate your enthusiasm and effort, but unfortunately, there's no getting around the fact that the R32 is the King, and the R33 was just an ugly stepping stone to the more modern and better R34. The only true Godzilla remains the R32 though.

id love to have one either red wine or midnight purple, change the rims and keep the rest stock. then again the stock steering wheel is what it is...the 33 still keeps the nicest parts of the 32 and 34 and blends them well.

It's so funny how this R33 looks like it shares parts with the Nissan 350Z and even the current 370Z. The front strut bar for example is the EXACT SAME STRUT BAR in my old 2003 350Z.

The Nismo 400R was one of the most beautiful cars I ever saw in a car magazine. If these sell cheaply enough, I will simply build a 400R clone.

I don't think I will be able to afford one anyway. I intend to buy an Evo X as a daily driver. The Evo X also gets labeled as a bloated pig, but I still want one.

I'm glad you made this video to showcase the R33.

It is so underrated, especially when the R34 is mentioned. And people just pretend to ignore the fact that the R33 was the first production sports car to break through the 8-minute barrier of the Nurburgring. Oh, and it has usable back seats!! The R34 doesn't have those!!

" Gran Turismo may have led you to believe the R33 is the weak point in the GT-R dynasty." ??? I don't think so. I don't remember Gran Turismo showing the R33 as a worse GT-R than its siblings. The Initial D series though made a point that the R33 was a boat thanks to a certain character saying it was.

I have a friend that imports entire front ends of Japanese cars into the United states. Getting the entire front end makes it easier to get the engine, transmission, computers and most of the wiring needed to put it into a different car. He has also used these parts to cut up left hand drive cars and convert them to right hand drive if the owner wants to go that far to be different. The most unusual swaps he has done has been an RB23 into a Volvo 240 station wagon, a Lancer Evolution 3 motor into an 85 Mustang GT, a RB23 into a Camero Z28 and an RB23 into a 68 Plymouth Barracuda. Most of those conversions were inspired by the Ford Mustang/RB conversion seen in Fast n Furious 2 Tokyo Drift.

Used to love the r34 when I was a kid maybe because of the fast and the furious but as i grow up i become more into underrated cars like the r33 it has far more character than the r34 its like it has a stronger aura than the r34 and more beautiful than the boxy r34 it looks more well rounded and really really cool it wish to own one someday

my opinion on the 90's aka modern Skyline GTR, don't get me wrong on this one, I love them all

R32 GT-R, build to be more focused on the R badge, because it's the revival of the legendary badge, it needs to be really good at racing, hence the crazy 29 win out of 29 starts in the JTCC

R33 GT-R, build to be more focused on the GT badge, hence the long wheelbase, longer body, more comfort in mind than the R32

R34 GT-R, build to be more focused back to the R badge, that's why it's going back to be shorter in body and wheelbase, basically to camouflage its weight and look sportier than the R33

I think the majority of people who talk negatively about this car aren't really in a position to buy one. These just recently became legal in the US and they are already selling for between $50,000-$60,000. While they may have gone a bit high with the initial pricing, I think it's obvious that there is demand for these cars, and people are willing to pay more than the going price for a similar R32 GTR right now.

Specs are not everything. This car and the miata are proof of that. It looks fun to drive that r33. If the car is enjoyable to drive thats more important. Would import one of these if I can when they become legal to import to the US.

I had the V-Spec version and that thing coupled with Bridgestone tires had grip for days. For me it was the perfect GT, i could drive 2-3 hours and arrive with a smile on my face and no back pain what so ever, i loved those stock seats.

I had an R33 GTR Vspec version that looked exactly like the one here. That was about 16 or more years ago, what a fantastic car it was
You keep pushing it more and more especially around corners, as the back end started to loose grip you could feel the drive start to transfer to the front and pull it all straight again. I sold it to a guy up in Scotland, the reason I sold it was because I felt if I carry on like this I would kill my self and it was not really up for being a family car. I do miss it though .

People said they compared the R33s weight with the R34 and the R33 is heavier. Wrong. They used the 400R against the v spec R34. They used the wrong model of the R33

I don't have an R33 GTR. But I do have an Autech Stagea 260rs. Which is basically the same drivetrain as an R33 GTR. I love it. I can only imagine how much faster the 33 is with a bit less weight than the wagon. But simple upgrades on these really unlocked their potential.

If I was gonna buy a GTR today I'd buy an R33. Because R32s have mostly been abused and R34s are priced at double an R33. So bang for buck R33s are the best.

Some of the later R33s especially series 3 look great.

i am crazy BMW fan,but i have to say these 2 cars r32 and r33 are one of the best cars ever made in the world...i wish i can afford to own one someday,but they are absurdly expensive for us in the east Europe...i have driven a Subaru WRX with a bit more power than stock and its a animal....i was never thinking that a car can launch like this...its like a catapult with the right tires...and i am very impressed with this when i drop the clutch from near rev limit...this car can smoke all 4 wheel like it is a childs play...thats really amazing guys...but the bad news are that if you are savage like miself you will be broke very very soon with these launches....soooo Subaru is ever worse in that thing...my old bimmer is mazingly strong...i am killing her every day and she never touches oil...never blowing gaskets,never failing transmitions...its a beast...but it reaaly needs more power....190 on the wheels is nothing like the Subaru's 400+...and that was a WRX not STI :) p.s. man i'd love to see my e36 with a turbo.

It's really hard to figure Nurburbring times over time, because familiarity with the track with drivers kept improving around the same time all these cars were released. Today, drivers know the track 1000 times better than they knew it when the R-32 was released. I'd love to see what a stock, brand new R-32 could do on the nurburg today with a great driver.

Ever since I've played gran turismo 1 (I was 9-10 yo) , I've dreamed to own this car, now I'm 25 and I still want to have one, I love the mean, monstrous look of this GTR, the look matches with the engine, powerful, monstrous, who doesn't kid around, to me this is the monster of the roads

You can tell he's not like other YouTubers emhm (TJ, Adam LZ, Dustin W.) They don't really know about there cars but get alot of money for there viewers to live out there dreams. They use videography as a cheap way of getting views. This guy knows what he’s talking about 1000% accurate. Much respect!

40:20 wait, simple question the max speed of the stock r33 is nearby 180 km/h ? Is it normal or the speedometer is blocked at 180 but the car can go faster ?
Bcause my 27hp 1997 honda NSR-R 125cc does 165 km/h and my 110hp citröen C2 VTR does 194 km/h and they are both considered slow :/

GW3N Hi. All JDM cars up to about 2010 is speed limited to 180kmh due to govt restrictions. So the speedometer of true JDM cars often only show up to 180kmh. There is a device made by HKS called SLD that cuts the speed governor

Really love that u took time to point out all the little improvements over the R32! I am trying to improve my R32 up to R33 and R34 standards after I do that then I will modify it the way I want with tasteful aftermarket mods. But your detailed videos using the OEM manuals helps a lot!!

The R33 is very underrated and unloved. It is literally better than the R32, check their Lap times in Tsukuba and Nurburgring Nordschleife and compare them! People must be on drugs for calling it a "bOaT"
Look, I have no hate against the R32 or R34s. Very good Cars but I don't understand why they hate the R33. please, give me a good excuse of a reason why y'all hat the R33?

3 generations of skyline gt-r covered and love them all. To me the r33 gt-r is like a THICC athletic high school girl that people kind of love and hate, once you get to know her and her quirks you'll fall in love with her. Btw great job with the review! Hopefully we could see a Mitsubishi GTO / 3000GT in future episodes and make comparisons with the skyline gt-r.

I always believe that r33 gtr is more suited for wangan midnight environment AKA highway racing. track wise r32 and r34 is understandably more superior.

i have 1 Skyline GTS RB20E, Laurel C34 RB25DE, and Laurel C32 RB20E. Cefiro RB24S. There is no Turbo....not one exist.

Actually I'm quite fond of the R33 bodystyle. People shouldn't forget that generation was also used as a base for the Nismo 400R, the Vspec N1, the AUTECH GTR 40TH Anniversary 4door as well as also an "odd ball" known as the 280MR. If only I won the powerball, I would get them all !! Thanks for this very detailled review !!

@Thunderbug I'm east coast us. I seriously considered just stopping at GTS-T but if I have a chance I will go GT-R. Ive been trying to research and review sale sites in which I really don't wanna get took (car doesn't match the picture) even though there is some buying security if I use my bank as the mediator. For the price you purchased yours for, I would say that is solo (you with no loan cash in hand) attainable any day. Should I step to the highest platform I would need a sort of personal loan to secure purchase, shipping and customs

@Darksaige Depends what country you live in for the site, I can only recommend anywhere if youre UK based really. As for price i paid £3750 for GTST but that was about 7 years ago and GTR was £24000 last year. Cant bring myself to sell the GTST though, it was my 2nd car ever and i got attached :P

Moisesezequiel Gutierrez I think the reverse his happening. For the R32 and R33 at least. The R34 is gonna be stupid expensive thanks to Paul Walker. But people are getting kinda gotten dulled to the R32 here in the states. The R33 is new and fresh, and people are starting to wake up to the it. Now the R33 is starting to go up, while R32 value is starting stagnate and even drop off a little.
