Size recommendation for a tall 6'2/79kg beginner/intermediate surfing 1-3ft average beachbreak?

I'm currently riding a 6'6 fish at 46.5L. That feels alright but it's damaged I'm looking to invest in a board for progressing over the next year or so.

Is the Omni a user friendly board comparing to the Evo? I have the Evo and love how easy it is to ride.

I just tested a 5'8" Omni with a trii-fin setup FCS II Carver fin in Ericeira, Portugal on a .5m reef break yesterday, wave form was reasonable, with a lighter 7 sec swell with some wind chop. I'm 80kg, 183cm been surfing. 17 years. This is the best board I've ever ridden because it's responsive to what you want it to do. I feel like this board will improve my surfing. I was out paddling everybody in the pack (it's light) (I'm an intermediate paddler) and getting into the wave early. I dropped into some medium steep to steeply angled sections with no problem! Did try some flatter waves and it's definitely not a Groveller. Maybe you could tune it to be a mild groveller with the right fin setup. I was making sections that I don't usually make with my other boards. The board paddles well and It feels very lively under my feet. Now, I want to test the SciFi. BoardShop: The question remains, why are people picking the Omni over the SciFi? The Omni is probably my next purchase.

Yes, it's epoxy with the LFT build inside. But I must say this type of build is stronger than PU not as strong as the FST but feels very lively and responsive.

Hi Michael, the boards do have a different profile and do different things. OMNI is superb in waves with a bit of push (goes as big as you would normally dare) where SCI-PHI can be a daily go to in most conditions. Personally I use the SCI-PHI as a daily driver in weaker or smaller conditions. Anything with push, or step up conditions, go for the OMNI. Really simplified things, but boards works brilliantly together. Hope that helps - Cheers.

I have a 5'3" Omni, It is probably the best board I have ever owned. If you like the evo then you will love the Omni.
