Awesome board! Tried my mates the other day which felt much more responsive compared to my CI New Flyer. I also watched your review on the V3 Stealth, just wondered how the Sci-Phi compares to the V3 Stealth as I am looking to get one as my next board?

I have caught 2000 waves now on my Sci-Phi. It improved my surfing so much two friends also bought one. I found foiled fins just did not work well. Firewire’s own fins medium size for most of the wave types are good. MR Twins with trailer are great in small fun waves and MF large are great for larger solid point breaks. I am 72kgs, 64years and ride a 5’10”. This is an ideal for any age who want a great allrounder. The LFT is tough and the board is quick and gives the rider confidence to push harder.

I am 52 and 155 pounds currently ride the omni 5'6 and Evo 5'4, i think the volume around 29 is good for my weight and shape. I gonna buy a Sci-fi but some dealers told me that i should add 1 L or more on the Sci-Fi because the thin rails. I am afraid of floating too much if i go 5'10! What do you think, 5'9 or 5'10?

Had this board for 3 weeks now, surfed it in 2ft - 6ft clean beachies. What can I say? Just go buy one. On Tomo's advice I sized it exactly to my current shortboard volume and ended up getting the 5'11. No need to be nervous about spending money on this board because it will instantly feel better than most of the boards you've owned.

The Sci-Phi and Evo have a big overlap in terms of the size and type of waves that you would use them in. The fundamental difference comes down to whether you’re more comfortable surfing a more conventional shaped board or are happy with the noseless Evo. If you compare sizes, you see that a 5 10 Sci-Phi has 30.78 litres where as a 5 10 Evo has 39.3 litres so you need to be comfortable surfing a much shorter size if you’re going down the Evo route. Some people love surfing a board as short as possible others don’t so its a big personal preference thing. The Evo is going to be surfed much shorter than the Sci-Phi with all the advantages that brings. If you’re going to be surfing waves at the bigger end of the boards ranges you might prefer the Sci-Phi for the extra length, giving a bit more hold and paddle in speed but the Evo handles all that pretty well too, better get one of each!
