I can truly honestly say it's a fast boat but my only problem was when it flipped upside down and got water into the cavity I use silicone you name it and it still got water and eventually it stopped working

I wanna start with boats and ordered a FT012 a couple days ago, but now I saw this video and and man, for the actual price at gearbest this boat is a must have.
I love the size with it's higher stability!
One question, I have a lot 3s LiPos and no 4s, so how will it perform @3s?
Maybe with a larger propeller for the lower rpm?

Other possibility would be a higher kv motor like the 2845/3930kv max 800W @3s that I've bought for a boat project (3D printed hull), do you know if there is any chance to seperate ESC from RX?
Otherwise testing is only possible with another RX and my Taranis, cause it will be no fun to blow the ESC midwater.
Does anybody know the kv of the stock motor of the FT011?

I've mentioned this before, but I follow your quad reviews pretty much religiously. Honest, transparent, unbiased and educating reviewers are hard to come by. I've learned from them. Thank you. RC cars and boats have been depleting my funds for years. Lol. Go to your local sporting goods store or hockey speciality store ( I know, ice hockey store in Hawaii?!?!?! ). Buy some clear hockey tape made by Renfrew. Hobby shops call it radio box tape and charge stupid prices for it. $11-15 will get you three rolls Dick's Sporting Goods and will last you a lifetime. It's water proof, flexible and stretches. Use it to seal the hatches of your boats. Boat guys use it exclusively. Make sure you also completely clean and then lube the drive shaft and it's tube after EACH day of use. A steel drive shaft spinning at 28,000 rpms will burn through a brass or aluminium stuffing tube in seconds if the grease gets fouled. The ABS hull also melts when this happens. Marine trailer bearing grease works perfect and is cheap. Also put some Vaseline in the rudder linkage boot and seal all penetrations of the hull and deck with a little water submergible caulking. Trust me, all it takes is just one tiny drop of water in the wrong place to ruin your day. Balance is very important with boats. Make sure it doesn't lean to one side. Do a Google search for the optimal fore and aft balance point for your hull style and length. Make sure your trim tabs do not hang below the bottom of the transom ( the back of the boat). Keep them a couple millimeters above the point where the transom and the hull bottom meet at most. Otherwise you're creating tons of drag. There's actually a scientific reason to do this, but I won't bore you with the details. Your turn fins should be gently sanded smooth and have a knife like leading edge. Don't point them down anymore than needed to stabilize the hull in turns.....35 degrees roughly in relation to the transom is a good starting point. This is just basic stuff. I can can point you to some great RC boat specific forums that will teach you everything. Let me know if you're interested.

It's time for me to shut up. Sorry for rambling on. Just my way thanking you for the quad knowledge you've given me. One last thing don't run your boats in saltwater, ever! Unless you have one specifically designed for the ocean. Saltwater is basically arsenic for freshwater RC boats.

Hey Dunstin, quick question. How does this compare to the ft012? performance, quality, speed, modification potential etcetc. I have a ft012 coming in the mail that i plan on stripping and reworking all internals into a grunt machine. It was hard choosing between the two. Cheers man!

Dustin Dunnill I would love to and I know I'll eventually get one too but for now I'm really keen on buying another FT012 which also floated away couple of weeks ago when I mucked around with the electronics and the boat stopped in the middle of flowing canal. That boat handles way differently and in my optinion was more fun and for some reason it seems to be way quicker and zippier than FT011.

Both are amazing machines. Love the way FT011 looks. But in terms of speed and performance both, FT012 is better. Just lost my FT011 today at the beach.
