My cousin and her husband live in Astoria - overlook the mouth of the columbia river. I have never been there yet but plan on it one of these years. Her parents (my uncle and aunt) have been lifelong sailors of the great lakes; funny I've never been out on their boat. I'll have to fix that soon. Now in their 80s they have switched to a powered schooner.

Good job, to me your becoming an experienced sailor, the Germans do it mostly well organised. Nike Steiger would be proud of you! Cheers from a Belgian Sailor. ( should there come more salt water out of the exhaust at 2200rev. ?)

Great Video...easy way to tell the weather was bad, Dad never came on deck, hahaha... I think I would have waited for better weather, but roller coaster effect may have been worth it...was this the worst you guys have sailed in... favorable winds?

Great video. Columbia and surrounds are my sailing grounds. The bar can be a nightmare...hundreds of ships have sank there...not little pleasure yachts, but huge ocean going ships...straight to the bottom. The Coast Guard at Cape Disappointment have balls of steel. Its too bad you didn't get the chance to sail the Columbia Gorge, its stunning, with amazing wind. Though with a boat Zero's size it would have been a LOT of tacking. A 50 foot full keel heavy cruiser needs room to stretch her legs. Fair winds to you. :D
