I think I can vouch for your comments on brass sea-cocks

My brass discharge sea-cock in the head 'looked' 100% AOK when my boat was surveyed prior to purchase

Just prior to Xmas, I was having the Lectrasan unit reconditioned

When the shipwright was trying to reattach the discharge sanitation tubing from the Lectrasan to the discharge seacock, the seacock completely tore-off in his hand (as a result of the application of pressure/force in trying to reattach the sanitation hose back on to the seacock)

a jet-stream of water entering the boat was the result - his quick thinking allowed him to plug the through-hull with his foot, while he called for help from his colleagues on his cell-phone

The boat was emergency slipped, and all sea-cocks were replaced for piece of mind (at a cost of AU$2500 to me)

I had a look at the offending sea cock - the piping was completely corroded right through, so much so that the only thing holding it together was basically the rust itself

What I don't know is if the new seacocks are DZR types!

I have a question sir. Do you prefer a sail drive to the shaft driven prop and is there an advantage to this type of drive over the other?

Been busy, missed some of your videos (will get caught up). Don't worry about getting videos out every day. Focus on the refit and getting the boat in the water. Unless you have reason to splash the boat by the 25th, a day or two later is OK. Less stressful and better finish on the refit. ;-)

You have brass and aluminum together in the saildrive with the new seacock. What are you doing for electrolysis?

Well done guys. As someone who brought up three children cruising (born in Istanbul, Turkey, Marbella in Spain (at my parents house), and St. Bart’s in the Caribbean) over an eight year period), I particularly get a kick out of darling Emma.

Yes usable water doesn’t stay very long you can be stranded on the boat so your supplies need to be on board as she goes in. I’m in mill brook and the engine gave out and I had to wait a tide with a packet of kp nuts and one teabag, so have your dinghy handy and work out the length of time you can get to shore. Upnor castle is great and you can book it for weddings. It’s famous as the place you could watch the Dutch pinch our fleet back along as the chain defence was hopeless.

Bringing up the little one on the boat locks hard work. I’d rather do the bees in the loft.

Good info about the brass, I knew not to use it, but not why. Thanks for sharing. Emma looks like a very content baby.
