Living on a boat with a baby? Why the heck not?! A boat is the perfect environment to spend 24 hours a day together as a family! Here are 7 tips to make living on a boat with a baby easier. We have spent the last couple of months living on board with our baby and we wanted to share a few things we have learnt to help others who want to bring their baby on board with them. Their seems to be a lot of cruisers expecting babies right now: Sailing La Vagabonde, Jessica and Ryan Adventures, the Daley Adventure to name a few. We hope that this video might be useful to them and to the countless other families out there on this beautiful blue planet of ours who dream of setting sail with their babies. Is it easy? Nope! Is it worth it? YES!!!! ⛵ Sailing Britaly ⛵ brings you the sailing shenanigans of Chris (British), Rossella (Italian), and baby Emma (Britalian) as we sail our 1992 Bavaria 350. We make sailing vlogs of our cruising adventures and share any tips and tricks we can along the way. After all, sailors are one big family! There's Emma. If her laughter doesn't warm your heart there is no hope for you. Such a cute baby she makes my day.

Nice job, Chris! Emma is such a happy and adorable little boat kid. We had a play area as well for Leo similar to yours but we called it the baby jail ;) In other words, he only liked to be there for very short periods. We have actually managed without a washing machine so far but we are definitely looking into getting one for next season :) We use cloth nappies for Leo and it requires A LOT of handwashing. Have you experienced any downsides with the washing machine? All the best// Steffi, Chris and Leo

Sorry, didn't watch the video, although Emma's a delight, having never had children Iv no interest to sit through a baby video (smiley face), a now and again Emma appearance is enough for me. Respect y'all.

Hi Lucious, that's no problem at all and we appreciate that this video will only be of interest to certain people. We intend to make lots of different kinds of sailing videos: cruising vlogs, technical videos, 'boat recipe' type videos, financial freedom videos explaining how we can do what we do etc. Even if a particular video is of no interest to a percentage of our current subscribers, we are looking to gain new subscribers (in addition to those that we have already) and this will be useful to someone out there. If they come on board as new subscribers then that's great! We understand completely that you might wish to skip this video, just as someone who has no interest in maintaining their engine might skip some of our technical videos. We appreciate all feedback though, so thank you for sharing your thoughts with us and we hope you will see plenty of content you find interesting from us in the future. Fair winds! Chris, Rossella & Emma

I love the way you are raising Emma, so thoughtful and intentional, you are setting her up for so much opportunity in her life - while clearly enjoying who she is now. I love the way you do your videos, thank you :)

Your baby is addorable. I have a 14 month old who's pretty active. Getting my boat fixed so I can take her and my wife out sailing. So far, she hates the water (during bath time) so hope it changes while out sailing.

Hi Chris .
If at some point in the future you head off for Italy , if when your passing the Mar Menor you need a few days ashore myself and my wife would be pleased to accommodate.
We moved out here from the uk in March , a I've been a follower of your vlogs more or less from the beginning and still look forward to new ones .
All the best to you all .

Hi there agree with all your points. We took ours sailing from a very young age, we bought our boat when our son was 6 weeks old and our daughter was one when she did her first channel crossing! We were lucky we had a dedicated space for a washing machine and managed to get a 3kg candy and used it on a cold wash, it was a god send with 2 young kids. Another point would be netting on the guard rails when Emma becomes more mobile. Xx

The inflatable bath is a great idea to put into a hard tub. So baby has less risk getting hurt. Great tips.

Definitely ‘car seat’ I rigged up a strapping mechanism in both the cockpit and saloon so when in heavy seaway the little one was safe. Do you follow La Vagabond, they have just announced they are having a baby.

I personally would not want to have a baby onboard but after watching this video I looked around for anything that may be unsafe for a baby on my sailboat. With rounded corners everywhere, lots of hand holds, locking drawers and cabinets it is probably safer below than most homes. I have seen quite a few transient boaters with babies and always wondered how they managed. Thanks for sharing what you have learned.

Your tips are great and they all work because you and Rosella are amazing parents, you should be so proud of yourselves.

Babies are so trendy now! lol Thanks for making this video. We were planning on doing the "diaper free" style of toilet training too. Glad to see it worked well for you. Seems like a really useful thing to practice for boat life.

Emma's laugh is so wonderful (when m,y son was young, I actually recorded his laugh for when I was away on a trip so that it would brighten my day . . . just a thought for when you've got to work). Nice tips.

Be aware that Emma will be later to begin talking (≈ 6 months), but being bilingual will more than make up for that. Great video.

To clarify my comment: It was not made as a negative...just as an FYI. I wish that all children were bilingual. Many parents get upset when their bilingual children are slower to begin to speak than children who are monolinguistic. I commend you both for allowing Emma to grow up multilingual and multicultural. She always puts a smile on my face with her giggles and laughs. Fair winds and following seas... BoscoBob
