Very nice. It was both interesting and sad to note the huge numbers of chemtrails in the sky over England. We had them every day for 20 years in Los Angeles, but I haven't seen one in 4 months now. Please keep us advised of what you see in the skies in your travel, and thanks for the reminder about the bioluminescence in your other video. I'd love to see some of it if your cameras are adjustable to make that possible.

i really love and enjoy. those budget living sailing videos. but believe me it is not so easy. as it looks like. in the end they all starts a youtube channel to earn more money. i would love to go for a fiew years sail too. but i checked and made my studies about the idea. you need money. even when it is not much but you need some amount of monthly income that goes into your account. like a retirement on a rent money... ''i mean renting YOUR house or flat to other people and live from that rent money''...
if you have to work wile you are sailing around the seas. wont be so easy and in the end it will take the fun away.
anyway i love the videos. i just subscribed and i hope the rest of the videos stays about sailing, not selling t-shirts ...

Hello you two, loved the video. I'm retired now but have sailed in the past and plan on getting a little trailer/sailer one day.... I've subscribed to 2 other sailing channels and find myself yearning for the sea just a little more (Sailing Zatara and Adventure Adrift - came across your channel by looking at these). Loved the video. just one quick question if I may; how do you fit so much interior in a little 26 footer? Like - where is the store room where the fishing rod is? Is that some sort of Tardis thing? Thanks for the vid. - Peter V.

Sailing Kittiwake - 6 years ago
+FrenchAM100 thanks a lot Andy! The solar panels are Renytek and we're super happy with them so far (4 months in).
The composting loo is a Simploo and it works perfect for us - much better than the old stinky electric marine loo we inherited the boat with. The only catch is you need to empty it and clean it once every couple of weeks, which only takes 10 minutes.
Cheers, we love those tunes too. All music credits are in the video descriptions, as requested by the artits. Elena and Ryan

I have a Mirage 28.  Also a sub £10K boat.  I did a shakedown cruise round the West Country for 8 weeks earlier this year (April and May - I put some videos up).  I now need to do a mini refit plus add some long distance items - boat is currently on the hard.  My original plan was to set off this year, but it looks more like Summer next year.So I will be very interested to see where you go and where you stop off.

7WetDawg3 hey! Sorry we missed your comment. Thanks! Some HTs have a cockpit cover, but ours doesn't - we might add one in the future though. We do have a depth repeater in the cockpit as well as a GPS repeater that shows speed and heading.
7WetDawg3
7WetDawg3 - 6 years ago
awaiting sailing Great Video! Is there a way to protect the cockpit in inclement weather? What gauges do you have in the cockpit? I noticed you have the depth gauge at the plotting table, but wouldn't it help up above? I have never seen a cat like this one. I bet you two will have some amazing adventures!
Sailing Kittiwake
Sailing Kittiwake - 6 years ago
awaiting sailing oh and in terms of the engine, ours is the high thrust one and we find it works great, it struggled a bit in the Gulf of Morbihan but that could have been avoided if we'd planned around the tides a bit better. We managed though and to me it's the only engine option which makes sense with the HT, presuming you're aiming to sail it more than use it as a motor sailor, in which case dual diesels might be better.
Sailing Kittiwake
Sailing Kittiwake - 6 years ago
awaiting sailing Hey, the main drawback with the height is being at the galley, I (Ryan) am 6ft 2 myself, and our galley was definitely designed in an era where men didn't use the kitchen, as the stove and washing up bowl are way too low for me. You could raise them up a bit, or lower the floor as it is on the other side of the boat, but because of the hull shape you'd lose floor space. The only spot with full headroom for you would be by the nav table. As we're somewhere warm and always plan on being somewhere that we can use the outside space, it's not such an issue for us but it cruising in colder weather it's something to think about definitely.

KeepTurningLeft sent me here and it was worth the trip -- great stuff. One suggestion, you might want to invest in a microphone windshield/make one to improve the sound in the on-deck footage. Oh, and the link to your blog on the video description here doesn't work (I tried three different browsers). The link from your Twitter feed and your channel's "About" section works though. Your blog is a very good read. With much admiration and best wishes for your journey.

Thanks very much! We'll get the link sorted (good spot!). We do have a decent mic on our big camera but its lens is no good for filming on the boat - it's too zoomed in, so we had to use the Gopro with its built-in mic for the boat tour. We've got a little foam cover for the Gopro now, so hopefully that'll sort the sound out. Thanks for the compliments, and for taking the time to check us out. You're very kind. Fair winds!
