Ep 78 | Monster Dorado, Sailing Nutshell

E78 Vlog of Life in a Nutshell sailing travels. We leave the beautiful Santa Catalina and head towards a charming anchorage, Puerto Escondido. Plenty of cleaning and fixing. We are accompanied by dolphins along the way. We poke around Isla Ranchera and find a runway on the island. Oh, and did I mention that Magnus catches his biggest Mahi Mahi EVER! We visit Rio Santa Lucia and a yellow footed booby bird hitches a ride, just gorgeous. It’s Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We are invited to a lovely Christmas Day dinner with new friends at Isla Cavada. Thank you all for watching and supporting this amazing adventure. Water in the oil is a pretty serious thing. It could be a head gasket, or your heat exchanger leaking into the engine. The exchanger leaking into the engine would be odd. Also sometimes the exhaust anti siphon loop/exhaust valve lets water back into the engine. Bets are it is the anti-siphon.

It was the anti siphon valve in the end. Cheers

Ahh yes try not knocking down the bread so much after it's first rise. Also try putting a small metal container full of water in with the bread when it cooks.

Also if you slash the top with a razor lengthways it will help it rise

Merry Christmas my Friends!  Magnus, with that headband on, you reminded me of a friend of mine from 1969, far out man!  Haha!  You guys kind of worried me when you found that airstrip, drug transport strip maybe?  Oh well, always a pleasure!  Rich

Check the water is not syphoning back through the exhaust. Had the same problem on my H28. as the exhaust was underwater when fully loaded for cruising.

Ola Wendy and Magnus. Thanks for another cruisy episode.
That fish! Thinking about food wonder if you have thought of growing herbs or the like on the Nutshell.
Looking forward to the update of how the main cabin-galley etc is looking.
Wishing you breezes at your back.

Speaking of plants that want to kill you. I suppose you have heard of the highly poisonous manchineel tree in the American tropics? Also known as the "the little apple of death" and the "beach apple." When you were picking up fruits off the beach to play cricket in the last vid, I was hoping you weren't going to happen into a manchineel. Though, I do think, but am in no way sure that it is primarily on the Atlantic side of the continent.

Love your vids!
