A Hinkley 50, which I used to deliver back and froth from Main to Virgin Gorda, had one....The advantages of sailing on different boats, the owners come up with some nice ideas.

good one! Wondering if there has been a chafe problem on your mainsail when running downwind/ off the wind and sheeted out? Any impact from the lexan hook on sailcloth?? Thanks, good video. Andrew

Hi Andrew, The halyard hook is well rounded and smoothed. There has been no obvious chafe problems in all these years, even with the boom as far forward as necessary, when off the wind. A bigger concern would be sail chafe on the aft lower and intermediate shroud, but those are fully covered with PVC tubing. If we had full battens on the main, that would, I believe, cause increased pressure of the main against the shrouds when off the wind causing chafe problems. Since we have no roach on our main, we don't need full battens anyway.

The first videos I made were the steepest part of the learning curve, well vertical trajectory, and now, on vid #20h it is only starting to tilt a little. Music has been part of the additions. Today I will post a vid about the remote, Indian Ocean, island of Rodrigues. It has lots of different music and sound effects....little by little.
