Fixing Sailboats - Fix Sailboat Rigging Chafe, Install PVC Tubing. This is a way to slip PVC tubing onto a stay without taking the lower terminal off or shortening the stay in order to reduce sail chafe and sheet chafe on a sailboat. This is one of of the Patrick Childress Sailing 's Sailboat how to videos. Also see "Rigging Chafe" part one. https://youtu.be/NPmMLxALjf4 See more sailing videos at Http://www.youtube.com/patrickchildress Many of the products we have used through the years can be found on our blog here: http://www.WhereIsBrickHouse.com/about **As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases** #PatrickChildressSailing #WhereisBrickHouse #BluewaterSailboat
? elsewhere I read that enclosing the wire would accelerate corrosion as water will dry slower & leave the salt & also as its covered checking the rig is much more difficult - ? possible leading to a surprise dismasting down the road ? Would love to hear your views on this
Also, I've used a lighter (the "jet" flame type) to lightly melt the "meat hooks" down. If done carefully you get what I think is a more solid fastness, along with a nice smooth rounded surface.

A tip I would add is use flush cut snips to trim the wire ties, zip ties, tie wraps, whatever term you might use. Leaves no chance for getting cut on the short sharpntsils left from angled wire cutters.
