YES!!!!! Ole Ole!! I can see why you have more hits than me:) Hobie 16 Ocean Sailing. Superb footage I really felt like I was there… Please keep them coming. Miss the H16 such an awesome machine. Had a super light wind sail last Sunday on an Inter 20. We were pacing against the new Nacra 17 and actually out performed it in very light wind. Don't know about higher wind.

It keeps the bows pretty high out of the water, but I've also broken a mast with it!

The 16 tends to tip backwards, end over end in strong wind if your weight is near the back and your head to wind. Can happen in a slow tack, if your positioning is wrong, and with him dragging behind would have happened almost immediately!

Really brings back the memories. I had a Hobie 16 about 20 years ago. Having a job has really gotten int he way of my sailing.

Damn good boats these, got one that I solo most times...tend to leave the jib ashore though! if you are thinking of getting one to solo...I would go for it, just make sure you can right it should you tip it over

If you can manage it, then yes - however we are quite heavy for the boat, and it was windy, it's generally a fight to stop it tipping over backwards as soon as someone is dragging in the water - for this reason, I was trying to keep the sails filled, and get my weight forwards. Not sure it's the best technique, but if you can pull it off you usually avoid a capsize...

Great video! I m thinking about buying a Hobie 16 to. I was wondering isn't it easier to put the cat with the nose in the wind when you were trying to get him on board again?

It's actually the crew - he swung around behind me, but I was caught in his shock-cord, so struggled to get to the front of the boat
