I prefer figure-8 coils. The method you are showing has too much chance of introducing hockles (when done incorrectly). See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-TV9cnzI3E for more.

Sorry Captain Bob, but that way will introduce kinks into the rope as you turn the rope on every loop. Throw it on the floor and run it through a block and see what happens. Instead, don't turn it and let the rope form figure eights. Now there's no kinks introduced and it will run smoothly.

if You want to throw a line coiled like this it will not fly as far as You probably want or need to. Better look at the mountaineers or alpinists techniques, where its live saving that a line does what it is supposed to do.
