And since it's just a clove hitch, it should work on the jibsheet too without jamming! I may have just found my new favourite knot!
Yes I did see that video you did of the Yosemite. I haven't had a chance to get out this year and try it unfortunately, (next week, Thailand) but the Yosemite is probably exactly what I'll use for the jib sheets going forward.
But I still wouldn't trust it for life safety without an overhand safety in place. In the fire hall we used a figure-8 on bight (figure-8 trace back is what we called it when we had to tie it the hard way) which is my preferred for life safety roles.
