These tried and tested tips try and get the two to meet. Free Sailing Tip 1: Find out where your local club is and when they have club racing on, then turn up a good hour or so before hand and walk the docks. Free Sailing Tip 2: Wear appropriate clothing - this doesn't mean turn up wearing all the gear, it means give it some thought, probably not jeans or marking soles footwear, but probably something that you would wear if you were going out walking in the hills. Free Sailing Tip 3: Expect an adventure, sailing with somebody you do not know can be amazing or awful, not everyone you get on a boat with sails nicely, some skippers have even been known to raise their voice at beginner crew. Remember most of the time these guys are not trained instructors.
