The trick is arriving there without sliding sideways which is using a combination of the sculling and easing sheet. You are permitted by #rule42 to scull to close-hauled then you must sail the rest of the way. You begin acceleration from below close-hauled because it is more perpendicular to the wind and allows the foils to grip properly.
