Laser Rigging: Pro Traveler Setup - International Sailing Academy
Sailing 6 years ago 3,958 views
This video outlines one of the most common beginners and intermediate rigging/tuning errors seen in a laser and how to fix it. When the traveler is setup with too big of a triangle, it is impossible to get enough tension in the system to keep the block down on the deck. This is particularly a problem in the transitional wind where minimal vang is recommended (block to block) but mainsheet tension can be approaching or hitting block to block. If the traveler block is off the deck, there is a potential loss of mainsheet tension that cannot be achieved. This can result in pointing issues and speed issues as well.
