Great job but if you open uo a po box i am going to send you a cordless drill

lol, just send one to my house! I had one (a cheap ass one) a long time ago but the battery on it was just terrible and it was weak as hell so i threw it away. I would love a new one though! Now you know what to get me for Christmas.

Saw your comment on Wicked salty video, and thought you showed a really good heart so came by to check your channel. Good stuff, subscribed and thumbs up for you

Awesome! Wicked Salty is the best! I like them because their channel I think really tells their story and isn't just full of a bunch of BS. Not to mention they are from Mass and sometimes you gotta just represent! Thanks for stopping by and the sub! I really appreciate it.

Who doesn't like you that they are following and down voting your videos. Must be somebody suffering from envy. That's why it's a mortal sin it poisons a person. Anyways good video I'm going to use a lot of the same equipment when I get to wiring my boat. I've pretty much gutted her. Started painting today. One day I'll put a video but I have so much work I don't find much time for anything but before and after photos. I take them for my own mental health.

What can I say? Haters gonna hate! They like to leave comments too, but I have the ultimate power of "the delete button"! I try to keep keep the comments area all positive at least. But thank YOU for not being a troll and having nice things to say! People like you keep me motivated to keep posting! Thanks for watching and commenting, keep me posted about your project.

Hey Adam! It is bailing wire! I am a Produce manager (are we allowed to be friends still?) I might have "borrowed" some from work! Shhhhhh.

Great job with Freestyle! I’m looking for my first sailboat to bring back to life as well. All the best. Jim from Georgia.

Thanks Jim from Georgia! I love working on boats, I can’t just sit around idle when I’m at home, I always need some kind of project to be working on and this boat fit the bill perfectly!

Like your channel! Front of the panel looks great, back, not so. You should organize your wire into a bundled harness. Then number wire ends 1-1, 2-2, etc. Keep it up.
Sailing FreeStyle
Sailing FreeStyle - 6 years ago
Thanks Oluf! This still wasn’t finished yet. Every circuit on the back is bundled into a color coded what you would call a harness, what I would call a zip tied bundle of wires arranged neatly in a cohesive manner. There will be more shots of it in part 2. Thanks again for watching and commenting.

Electrical is one of my favorite topics, but your hyper speed shots and the super fast cuts made me so nauseous I couldn't watch the entire episode.

Ryan, I'll add a couple comments.....
1. The battery. It looks like you have it under the STBD settee. I would recommend putting it under the V-berth. Mac's actually sail better with some weight forward.
2. The back of your panel. I know you aren't finished yet, but electrical connections are exposed. Someone could accidentally touch the wiring.

Loved the vid!!! The end of the video ramble was one of the best I’ve seen yet. Looking forward to the next wiring vid. Looking to do a similar project on my boat. Can you consult your magic 8-ball to see if there is a solar panel episode in the future? If not, no worries. Thanks again.

Thanks much for the kind words! And you are welcome, I wish I could go back and censor the earlier videos without having to delete them (which in turn would delete everyones comments and statistics), but can promise I'll do my best with future videos.

Luv the panel, it looks great... Hate to be a critic, but do you know that the first 9 minutes no substantial information. If I haven't been watching all of your videos, I would of stopped the video and moved on to something else.

Kelly Stiles - 6 years ago
Yeah, I tend to have a negative attitude. That's why my videos suck... I could have my MacGregor almost fall on me and still not get a lot of views... I meant my comments as constructive criticism, not destructive. I know I wish someone would give me ideas on getting the volume correct on mine.

Good job, Ryan! This way of getting most of your work done inside and then getting back on the boat with it works well for me too. Do you have a heater on board so you don't freeze while you are working? In my small cabin it gets comfortable after a 1/2 hour. Keep up the good work. Well organized.

That's why I got a heavy duty plug strip. It runs my parents electric bill up probably but I had the heater, my soldering iron, and the drop light going for many hours while I worked on the new electric panel. (Thankfully all my major circuits are already covered in a fairly new West Marine panel.) The new panel video is being posted tonight.

Sailing FreeStyle - 6 years ago
I do have a small space heater but only one extension chord ! It doesn’t work very well when I keep unplugging it! But everything is coming along well so far!

I should have put a warning to wait a half hour after you eat. Seems like half liked the editing style for this one and half didn’t. I had fun though and will maybe try something new with the next

Thank you! I’m doing my best to keep plugging away when I can. Temperatures have been manageable lately to get out there in the boat though. The next one shouldn’t take to long to put up.

The stern white and nav, bow, should be on one circuit. Steaming half way up mast and then anchor. That's the required setup. Otherwise looks good! The diff in draw on the monitors was probably impedance on the back feed. Install diodes prior to install on the battery leg.
Sailing FreeStyle
Sailing FreeStyle - 6 years ago
I suppose, I really just didn’t what to have to put 3 more toggle switches on what was already getting to be a crowded switch panel. But at the end of the day I think it will work just fine. Also the meters eventually evened back out once I cleaned everything up and righted it all down. Thanks for all the good info!

Is the Facebook page just sailing freestyle? I looked but it was a closed group and I couldn't tell if it was you
Sailing FreeStyle
Sailing FreeStyle - 6 years ago
I sure can, I did deviate from it a little though, especially when it came to the meters. Originally as diagramed one was supposed to monitor load data and the other charge data. For the life of me I couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t reading amps or watts coming off a battery charger for the one I had wired to monitor charging performance. I followed the diagram listed with the product but all I was reading was voltage. SO I just decided to use them both to monitor load data and voltages of two batteries separately. But if you are a fan on the Facebook page I would be happy to post my original.

Not doing the wall at the stern berth like ya, but I was figuring out how I wanna do some of this, so I might go ahead and use your product links for some things. GREAT VIDEO, glad the audio volume got figured out, and your editing is getting really good. Entertaining for sure.

Sailing FreeStyle - 6 years ago
Hey thank you SO MUCH! I did end up switching editing software and once again having a slight deviation I noticed with this episode (I actually uploaded it twice the first one was so bad) not as bad as before but I’ll have to make an adjustment on the next one so it’s a little more balanced. Thanks again for watching, commenting and trying those links. I’m curious to see how much something like that generates, it was just a random thought to give it a try and see what happens.

Lol, I know it was a tough creative style choice. It’s no easy task to take something as boring as electrical wiring and making it somewhat entertaining. I tried to pick an upbeat song to help move it along so people’s attention wouldn’t be lost and then did my best to make the edits work to the rhythm of the song. It might work for some maybe not for others. Hopefully I can redeem myself with the next one!
