I am a beginner sailor and still learning. is what you are talking about defined as "sail twist"?

+pgreenx Yes. On the slack leech, the sail has too much twist. This causes the batten to open up too much to leeward. On the hooked leech, the sail does not have enough twist. The entire leech will be hooked to windward. This means the sail has stalled, so most of the drive will be to the side. To correct either issue, adjust the mainsheet to get the upper batten about parallel to the boom. In a future video, I will discuss mainsail leech telltales. It's all part of the recipe that goes into producing maximum sail power. Thanks for your excellent question.
