Sry mate i am used to sailing windjammers and other big sailingvessels. If you would apply regatta rules you endanger the lifes of about 100 souls.

As soon as the runner up clears the bow of the ship being run up you are right again. The rest of the info is correct. Its just the placement of the line you make. The title is not fit to the info. The title should be "Sailing Regatta Rules".

With first contact i mean as soon as the waves created by each vessel start to influence each other. Always be wary if you are the runner up. On a collision the first rule will apply. Good Seamanship. You have shown none. For the sharks you will go.

Not true. In shipping once a runner up always a runner up untill you are clear of each other. You're discussing sailing regatta rules. These don't apply to high see rules. The one running up should always give way to the vessel being run up untill clear. This all has to do with the fact the one being run up will allways go towards the runner up. The first contact turns the bows to each other. Don't react BOOM! Hydrostatic energy makes sure of this.
