Get to Florida stop make some money to replenish yourselves. Even if you have to go into a land job for a while. I can't remember there's a site for free docking down in Florida also free camping. Just an idea. But honestly Mattie could make good money painting on boats art work. And Herb doing rig work.

Unfortunately Mattie that's sailing. The trick is figuring out how to sail and make money while your doing it. There's 100's of ways to make money out there.

Well guys it is usually a 6 day sail to Bermuda from New York. If you left Wednesday before last.....well I hope you are all OK. It looks like you have super duper headwinds.

Guess I missed that part when you were forced into Deltaville.

Salt water and water heaters don’t sound like a good mix, but that’s just my uneducated observation.

That's pretty neat, I guess hot water in the tropics is probably overrated anyway.
Rigging Doctor

+Josef Roesler that is correct. The water heater uses shore power, so when unplugged it is just a big water can.
I tee in after the water heater and the tee has valves to keep salt and fresh from mixing.
From the tee on, all the hot water lines become salt water lines.
You can check out more details of it on this blog post: https://www.riggingdoctor.com/life-aboard/2017/4/3/saltwater-plumbing

Ok, so you're not using the heater at all for your sink?

+Josef Roesler oh no i tap in after the hot water heater which is shut off.

You should be able to drill a small hole in the top of the anchor winch, tap that hole and add a zerk fitting and pump the grease in there. A small cap on that fitting and you should be good.
OK, so I should have waited a couple minutes.

+Goose Guy I considered that, but I was worried about metal filings getting into the crankcase. On a bolt, all the filings were far from the bronze gears.

Couldn't you get out of the marina, and get on the hook to save that marina fee?
Rigging Doctor

Still a chance for a hurricane. I never left for Bermuda before middle of Nov. Hang in there. Its only cold till the gulf stream.

I really like how Maddie took the tortillas and arranged them on the plate so you can the put three portions on three tortillas! I will remember that, because I make so many wraps, tacos, burritos, etc. Now I will only dirty one plate!! Also the heat shield is awesome. Being metal it will evenly distribute the exhaust and radiate a lot of the heat into cold air rather than just letting it hit the dinghy and stand. It will also spread the heat rising with the exhaust in a much wider pattern, so that is just brilliant!! Good luck...or break a leg...whatever you would subscribe to as a "well wishing" on your passage!

+Allyn Onderdonk thanks, we can't wait to finally get moving again. It feels like a dream come true to leave the bay and go where the wind takes us :)

Tip for dishes. When you have stuck on food in pots and pans do this: fill pan half full of water, place on stove top, turn burner on low, after a brief period use a spatula to gently scrape bottom. If stuck on crud doesn't come off easily then give it a bit longer.

Welcome to my world. I'm around the corner from you a little further up Jackson Creek. Deltaville is very uneventful. My solution: drink!

I agree with Thomas Perdue, he said everything I was going to. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best, and smile through it all. Steady on.....

What you are describing is a kind of "life lesson" - it is happening now and there will be other instances down the road. Be patient...hard to do....but patience is what is needed. Soon, you will go out to the blue water and it will be amazing. Stay calm and carry on. Smile....it will happen.
