This is our very first time sailing our own boat. We put up the sails, turned off the motor and enjoyed the ride! We also learned a few lessons along the way. The jib (or head sail) was put up first and made it difficult to keep us pointed into the wind when we tried to put up the main sail. We should have put up the main sail first instead. But we finally sailed her on the Atlantic ocean and loved it. Although... we didn't love the trip back in through the inlet. PLEASE subscribe to my channel and leave a comment below. First I want to tell you that your vidio quality was really good, and I want to thank you for giving me a good laugh in the morning! You now know that the first up and the last down is the main. I also got a chuckle out of Barb wrapping the line the wrong way on the winch! For a moment I thought I was watching a how not to sail vid!!HA HA HA
It was good to see you get out and give her a good go, keep it up, soon you'll look back on these time and say "That wasin't US " keep it up!!!!

Thanks Dale! As I replied to someone else - we planned to sail with just the jib, but ended up putting up the main sail since the conditions were favorable. But we should have furled the jib first and then set the main. Now we know! And yes, Barb is notorious for forgetting which way is clockwise! LOL

Congrats! We are planning/hoping to get out into the ocean this coming season, of course we have to traverse the Barnegat Light Inlet to do that. :/

Thanks and good luck to you in getting out on the ocean soon. We are hoping for some calmer weather soon to get more time on the ocean. The seas have been rougher than usual according the those who boat around here. But, it's giving us the experience so I guess that's a good thing.

You should always put up the main first if you are going to use both. You can put out the jib a lot easier than the main sail. Good job on the video good job on the sailing. S/V ApaulaG

Thanks! We actually planned on sailing with just the jib, but the conditions were pretty good so we decided to put up the main sail too. Hindsight tells us that we should have furled the jib when we decided to put the main up. We're doing a lot of learning through our mistakes.

You will learn your boat can handle a lot with no problems on the ocean. The hard part is can you handle what the boat can do. Just remember it is designed to handle a lot. It will keep you safe as long as you make proper decisions. Those lessons you will learn as you go. You will do fine! Great job and look forward to more of your videos.
