very nice video , skillfull sailing but if this is 30knots I was sailing yesterday in 50 knots :) Did you ever bear away with a Hobie Wave in 30 knots? Lots of fun !

Hey MrCurtisass, you have no idea what you are talking about. I was sailing in 30 knots not 30mph, and your reference to the rigging, is in fact the trapeze lines. Before you make any comments on a video, you should at least know what you are talking about

Hi Barbara, Glad you like the video. I think it shows what a Hobie Wave is capable of. Good that you are enjoying your sailing experiences. I had a bit of a look at your site and could not find any reference to the fact that the person who made the video and who is in fact the sailor is me. On any blog or website there should be some reefrence to the owner of the material if you are not the author. I hope you have also had a look at my other video on the love of sailing. I think this also shows that you do not have to be going fast to have fun and just enjoy the ocean like I do. Happy sailing

John, I had a trapeze on it, but due to the size of the boat and sail, even the slightest lull in breeze saw me taking a dive with the prospect of the boat coming over on me.. Also the mast is too far forward on the boat to allow you to get right at the back on a trapeze. I tried lots of times, but always felt unstable. I think the trap would be good for kids getting used to being on a wire, but for a 90kg bloke the boat just does not suit.

I put a lot of tension on the jib to help it keep its shape. I gave up with attaching the jib to the crossbar as it broke twice. I now have two short jib wires running from each attachment point on the front of the hull. and attach the jib to these. Like most people I also use the front beam to either pull the boat up the beach or to help load it onto the trailer. To give it more strength, I just put a sleeve of a larger piece of aluminium tube on one side.

Jonathan c, The Wave jib doesn't use a "high tension uphaul", and because of it's relative small size, and the way the front crossbar attaches to the hull, there is no need for s striker. I do find that over time (I've sailed Waves for 6 years), the front crossbar does gain a slight bend if Jibs are constantly used.

Not needed. This boat is incredibly strong. Racing up the face of waves and becoming airborn does not faze it at all. I run an oversized jib. I have a trapeze but its more fun just hanging off the side.

The front bream is really strong and its just how the boat is made. I have come crashing down after becoming airborn up the face of a wave, and I have never seen the front beam flex

I had a hobie14 once and everyone said you had to add a dolphin striker to the front to run a trapeze and jib..which i did. You dont have to do that with this boat? the front cross beam is strong enough?

Hi, If you have a look at my video on how to step the mast on a Wave, I think you will see a little about the clips. I now have three on my jib, and they can be bought at any sailboat fittings shop. They really help to keep the jib in shape. Easy to fit....they just screw on I never sail without the jib. I even had a larger one made. It certainly aids in

Hi, I am thinking about getting the jib kit for the Wave, what advice can you offer. I know you mention extra clips, but how would I go about doing that? Is the standard sized jib worth getting, and does it help with keeping the bows up and tacking? Thanks!

Excellent! Thanks for the reply! I just can't believe how much it helps raking the mast back that far. it looks like it's a speed boat taking off on plane. What a huge difference! The traveler is a huge part of it as well. Keep up the good work and looking forward to more vids from you.

Hi Charlie, I lengthened the forestay by adding two adjusters, and had the shrouds shortened so that I could rake the mast right back Laying it back makes it go extremely fast. I replaced the blocks with a decent set of Harkin blocks so that you can really pull down with little effort. The traveller allows me to sail in huge winds with the sail fully out. I also had a larger jib made. Stops hulls digging in.

Are you using custom length forestay and shrouds? I noticed you can easily go "block to block" on the main. I am in the process of ordering the Harkin block setup and traveler for the wave which looks like what you are using. I'm maxed out on the forestay and can't get enough mast rake for heavy air. Waves are super diggers and noticed the amount of rake you have as well. Thanks and great vid!

Excellent for the variety with the second camera. The 'fixed' camera on the boat can be a bit uninspiring but this extra camera solved that problem.
