I'll also point out that Both Accept and Anvil have Thrash metal.....although both are Speed metal bands.
Venom may have pioneered thrash but they're not a thrash band they're a black metal band... Holy Moses is a really good band, i'm surprised you didn't mention Destruction or Kreator though..
It is funny you mention James's southern accent considering where he's from I don't know how he developed one. I live in northeastern Ky and James sounds like he should be from Memphis Tennessee lmao. (Btw, Tennessee's accent is much worse than Ky's Don't believe the hype.)
You may have noticed that their music PRIOR to the release of the Black album was NOT a commercial success.......if they had NOT sold out, they wouldn't have made a dime....they'd be one of the many Thrash bands that fell into obscurity.
As far as his vocals...I just never liked them...although his ACCENT is what puts me off the most. I hate that almost southern accent.....it's even more evident on parts like these... "nieeeeeght" "fieeeeeght" "lieeeeght" aarrrgh, it's so frustrating. I'm not much of a fan of the vocals themselves either....but the above pushes it over the limit.
I prefer Thrash metal artists who either have entirely harsh vocals (like those part of the European Thrash movement...I prefer the music as a whole more as well.) or fully clean singing...a great example is Toxik (who are all phenomenal musicians as well.)
I find Metallica's music bland (this is my opinion.) and I don't find the vocals themselves a Joy to listen to....it's at a point where I'd prefer if Metallica were an instrumental band (although I still wouldn't listen to them.)
It's fine if you prefer the vocals, that's your opinion....although I think it should be noted that many of these people you're referring to are generally 'entry level' fans....who wouldn't know the difference between holy Moses and Coroner...and worse still probably don't know who either artist is. (for your information, Holy Moses along with Venom Pioneered Thrash metal...both releasing material from 1980-1981.)
