My neighbors tell a story of when they were out on a fishing boat, quite a large one, and a killer whale was swimming around the boat, and now and then would just drift along next to it, with it's head out the water, just staring directly at them, just watching what was happening on deck. It also barged the boat a few times, apparently!

my favorite thing about sharks is their social hierarchy. sharks are very social. in great whites they have dark spots on their pectorals that would give them away when a seal spots them. we know these spots help with socializing. i find that these top predators (excluding orcas and humans) would choose to socialize rather that stealth.also shark hierarchy goes like this
female>males
bigger sharks>smaller sharks
established residents>newcommers
it even spans across species. like when a 5.5 ft white shark was in captivity with a 8 ft bull shark. the bull shark always gave way to the white shark.

I love sharks and would love to study them, but not without protective gear. Just like studying criminals in a jail, you don't give them the opportunity to kill you.

Normally I like your stuff, but this isn't going to help sharks, It is true that they have a strong bite force and are top predators but we are not there natural food, they are inquisitive and are more likely to take an expository bite first to see what you are before the kill bite, shown in this video, thats why there are survivors. I want a pet Great White, they're so cute!!! Wonder where I could get one. You know what, I don't think it will work out because they are TOO BIG to fit in an apartment, let alone getting the landlord's approval. Plus you need like a 250,000 gallon tank and no pet shop sells tanks that large. Bummer!!!!!

One time I anchored off of La Jolla to clear kelp of the keel and rudder on my Sailboat, Hopped in and began cutting it away, fish where swimming, seals goofing around in the surrounding kelp bed. Then I caught a flash, and all the fish and seals disappeared. Hairs stood up on the back of my neck, I must have pulled a Kevin Costner/Waterworld leap because I do not remember how I got back on my Boat.....
