Thanks for sharing although you're facts aren't true and sizes of these animals.. the man in the kayak for 1. The kayak is more of 8ft not 14. The shark is more 16ft.. which is normal for female great whites in which are bigger than males

they live milions of years deep in the ocean, once an encounter with a human they are no more. If you were fighting for your life, you were fish food the minute you were in the water and alot of people would be alive if they thought about this. Taking a swim out in the ocean isn't a good idea, the deeper the water the bigger the fish, I feel like a granule of sand out there and will not think of going again!

No Mega lodon
falcon3268
falcon3268 - 6 years ago
if the MEG books are any indications of what the sea life would start to react to have a massive shark in the waters I think we would be seeing a lot more accidents of ships being attacked, whale migrations would change, a lot more shark attacks where the bodies weren't recovered would start appearing. So I highly doubt that the MEG has survived

While I believe that the chances of a Megalodon being alive today are pretty high since the ocean depths are still unexplored, most of the videos here were posted by a documentary that was later admitted to being false. Merely assumptions and theories, and even some video editing. I truly do believe that Megalodons exist, at least I hope they do, but until I see one myself or have better, undeniable footage, I'll never know for sure.

maybe megladon is just a great white that lives in deep oceans and has grown a lot bigger to cope with the water presure in the deep ocean. after all they r contantly finding new species of animals on land and in the sea in places they thought nothing could survive. IE life forms growing quite happliy in nukclear reactors that die as soon as they come into contact with water or oxygene. Other life forms discovered living in the lava in volcanoes. earth bacteria that hitched a ride to the moon cause NASA didnt bother to sterilise anything sent to the moon thinking nothing could survive r actualty thriving on the moon better than they do on earth. Bactria has been found on meterites that have crashed into the earth and they r not known to earth science. yet they survive space. Some species thought to have been extict for millions of years have been found and still living. So maybe megladon is out there somewhere or they might just be sharks that r known about that have grown a lot bigger than normal.

Just watching it and talk about it made me so curious because it caused people to stop and think of how huge the ocean is and how anything can be living there. I mean look at how many people answered and took a look at your site. Curiosity!!! A.

Andrea De La Fuente - 7 years ago
Anything can live under the ocean. As well as land. It's just so amazing of how many fish live so deep in the ocean where there's no light. Most are blind. The fish they see when they use a submersible to go deep is unbelievable. Fish they thought were extinct. Fish that make their own light it's so beautiful!!!!

You lot are stupid you know the megalodons extinct right....the ocean would be a very different place. Food chains would be in chaos, big predators like sharks wouldn't be as active and if the megalodon was still around why ain't there actual official confirmation/photos/video evidence and not this YouTube shit....I know why it went extinct.
If megalodons still existed the oceans would be much different to how we know it.

griimlock news flash for you, people have barely explored the ocean. Think it's around 10-20% of the ocean has been explored so it is possible. Just because no photos exist yet still doesn't disprove they aren't alive, people find dozens of new species every year.

I don't think they are still around but to say because we have no pictures of them they don't exist is absurd. Truthfully I only clicked on the video thinking it may have had something to do with the Meg movie that is supposed to be due in 2018. If not sure about the movie, it is based on a book about megolodons.

You know, there's a few problems with giant animals in the oceans, one of them being food sources, a big animal needs to eat a lot, the ocean does have a variety of creatures, but it just doesn't support super sized predators in it's current state, the other issue we find ourselves with is a lack of fossile evidence, if there really was some kind of super shark living in the waters today we'd definitely see evidence of it in the fossile record or even prey items that have survived attacks with imbedded teeth, a giant shark sounds very interesting, but it's just not feasible

In 1945 a Navy crew was traveling on the USS Indianapolis when they were struck by Japanese torpedoes. The ship was carrying 1,200 people. About 900 were thrown into the water as the ship sank. The enemy had left, but the men who survived were now floating aimlessly in the middle of the ocean. They had no idea they attracted another foe. Before they knew it, hundreds of sharks surrounded them and began feasting on the dead bodies. Once they were through with those they began to attack the living. Many of the men lost their lives to shark attacks and other issues such as drowning and dehydration. By the time help came only 300 living men were left. A.

Wrong! There are 5% of underwater animals discovered, 94% of species not discovered
So megalodon can't live in Mariana Trench.
Because megalodon has a lifetime of 2 million years ago,
The length of a megalodon is 18 meters long.
Only whale shark is the worlds biggest whale in the world.
But megalodon's fossils really found.
Yet megalodon's didn't exist anymore because of the end of the life of the dinosaurs.

The shark shown around the 7:30 mark is easily identifiable by its dorsal fin. It is a porbeagle shark swimming in calm water with almost no waves (more like small calm ripples). The sea rescue clip shows a digitally added creature. Those that are of actual sharks in this video do not show anything close to what a megalodon would look like. As megalodons closest living relative is the great white, there would be some similarity in the fins. None however match that description

Scientists do not think anything about megalodon, because they think they disappeared 2.5 to 5 million years ago. Moreover, every object in the water seems bigger from the outside, because the light is deviated.
Once again, half of scientists believe one thing and others believe the opposite. You take your opinions and perceptions according to what suits you. (It's valid for everyone)

I'm watching a documentary of shark attacks that inspired the movie "Jaws" in June of 1916. There were no attacks in the U.S. at the time. Nobody took it seriously. It was a Grey White. They never heard of a shark eating or attacking people at that time. One man was attacked so bad that when they pulled him out of the water he was very light because the shark took both legs and half of his abdomen. After that, everybody panicked. After that they were killing every shark they saw. A.

Megalodon does not exist.
They lived in coastal regions.
Their body couldn't sustain waterpressure beyond 1500 meters deep.
There isn't enough nourishment to sustain a habitable life-style.

If they were still around, there would've been a lot more recorded sightings, whale carcasses and shipwrecks throughout history.

Witness accounts are not evidence. People saw Christ rise from the grave. A township saw a leprechaun in a tree. People see what they want to see all the time, and are wrong most of the time, it’s proven science. I guess the world as it is just isn’t fascinating enough for people, which is kinda sad, really. A lot of these r sleeper sharks that can grow larger than great white and move slow and live in deep waters in antartic waters. The largest sleeper shark was found off of Tokyo and was almost 8 metres I’m pretty sure and I’m just seeing a ton of sleeper. It’s just not possible for it to be alive today it died out because the cold temperatures that came and a lot of these shots r taken in cold waters u will not find megaladon at the bottom of the ocean it’s too cold and deep that’s not how it lived and unless u go out and record a shark as big as a blue whale there’s no evidence.

As big and deep as the ocean is if the megalodon was to still exist and has been surviving I think we should be worried about what the fuck else is in there... If it's possible for a huge shark to thrive without being spotted as proof for all of us then I would be willing to bet a lot more huge "monsters" are thriving as well. Human kind has been altering everything around us so long I'm sure species not yet discovered know how to and do hide from human interaction and might be a key reason they survive therefore new generations of these species would likely learn this as a survival instinct and continue to be forever elusive

Mr. Luuk Gobel, I do research before I write because a lot of what they say and see could be just nonsense but in this case I'm scratching my head the there has to be a lot more to this shark. The whale shark is the biggest fish in the sea. Yet people don't see them often. Only when they come up to eat then disappear again. Why can't the meglodon do the same? I enjoy reading your comment. You know what your talking about. I know I'm not talking to someone stupid. But, maybe just maybe a couple of animals survived and got away. Do you think that it might be possible? Just because we don't see them doesn't mean they are not there . They could of adapted to their environment underneath our noses. But the meglodon has been seen and spoken about many, many years ago.

The black demon shark is a myth just like the monster of lochness. Without any good video proof I wouldnt believe a megalodon (black demon) would exist in these days. The only things worth eating for something that big would be things like whales, killer whales maybe even another big great white shark (5-7 meters). All those animals live pretty high up in the ocean so it would be close to impossible to havent even encounterd 1 in the wild. Also it should be almost impossible for a megalodon to survive whatever happend to the earth. Scientist think because of different levels of acid that came in the water (in preastoric times) smaller fish died, meaning of that larger fish then that die because of the imbalance of the eco system. The only known fishes (right now) that have survived these events are about 1-3 meters. This kind of a fish couldnt be enough food for a megalodon and even those fish are there in really small numbers. I would love to see that something like a megalodon exists, but im afraid its just 1 big myth. Sorry for my shitty English I hope you understand most of it.

Unfortunately, the problem with all these "evidence" videos is scale. It's always scale. They've already identified a few of these videos as being small, well known sharks an the scale estimate was hugely skewed. That one with the brown shark, that not a 7 foot crab trap, nor is it a 40 foot shark. It's a small fish trap, maybe 3 feet, and the shark is probably 6 to 8 feet. And all the videos shot in open water, again with nothing for proper scale, it could be a shark anywhere from a foot long to 100 feet, depending on the focus length of the camera lens. Sure, there are undoubtedly LOTS of things in the ocean we haven't seen and know nothing about. Heck, it's a proven fact we know more about the moon than we do 70% of our own planet. But, until clear video is captured with multiple reference points to prove correct scale, all the video footage in the world won't prove anything. By the way, I loved that show "Megaladon: The monster shark lives" where you got so much of this footage. That one was one of the better efforts I've ever seen for a monster hunt show.

If the trap is actually only 3ft wide and the shark looks 40ft next to a 7ft trap, how do u get a 6 to 8ft shark if the trap is almost half of the 7ft mark. Wouldnt that make the shark close to 15 to 20 ft? I mean if we are talking about scale
Joe Bloggs
Joe Bloggs - 6 years ago
I think the question is not one of scale but proof, we see the footage on here but why nowhere else, if sharks shown here are as huge as suggested then why is there no evidence, sure most probably wouldn't make it to a beach but some would.

The shark that was 42ft wasn't a megaldon it was a baskin shark you can tell by the shape of its nose... the majority of the sharks in this was either a fully grown great white or a baskin shark. Also baskin sharks are bigger than great whites but only way plankton and krill

Ancient Megalodon fed mainly on whales as evidenced by damage to fossil whale bones. I doubt they would change their diet much as a shark that size would need massive amounts of fat in their diet. In other words whale blubber. If Megalodon was still in existence whalers would have seen them as they would have been in direct competition with them and their preferred food source. Since whaling lasted into the age of photography and early crude filming we would also have photos and possibly a ancient grainy video or two.

You say that black spots on the back are associated with whale sharks, which you say you don't see, but that's because you don't have a clear visual of the shark, or whatever it is. So how can you say you don't see any spots on its back when you can't see it clearly? I do believe that there's things we've never seen before, which oceanographers and other people are finding new species of all different types of fish all the time, so you just don't know what's in those waters when 95% of it is unexplored. I'm a certified Scuba Diver, I've been since 1986, and I know how big this earth is and how much water is in it, so there's definitely things we don't think exists.

CR 2.0
CR 2.0 - 7 years ago
I can't answer that but you mention not enough food for the megalodon but we have only explored 1% ocean floor. Who is to say their isn't enough food. How do we know that ? Blue whales are still alive, and also giant squid, which is thought to food for megalodon. Just a thought. Thanks again for discussing it .
James Debernardo
James Debernardo - 7 years ago
CR 2.0 very true , and I m sure we'll discover many strange and impressive things as science makes more and more headway in the exploration of the world's ocean. The fact remains that there just isn't nearly enough food for a creature that large. So many of the oceans predators are endangered because of this lack of food, and the biggest of these is nowhere near as big as the megalodon supposed to be...so what would it live off of ?

Or destroyed by deforestation and what else humans think they own the planet without thinking of all the animals in and out of the water we hurt. In it are animals who haven't been seen yet. Maybe its not their time to be seen. What upsets me the most is what we do to those we find. Either we hunt them down or we bother their unharmed territory. I think it is for tourism, they tried to see but the water is very murky and very little fish. If they told me there's a humongous ape in an island ( king kong) or ( Jurassic park) wouldn't you run at a chance to see it? I would!!!

And if you notice they are all the way down to the ocean floor. Chile is big, but I see that a lot of these videos are from other sharks not Megalodon. The last one on top of the crab trap really has me thinking because it has 6 gills which if I'm right, 6gills means prehistoric. Am I right? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I remember when I was young, my sister and I were in Miami beach in Florida. You walk into the warm water, it's the most beautiful experience in the world. Anyway, we would walk and walk and the water would remain on our waist and eventually the floor dropped and we were swimming. All of the sudden we felt something swimming in between our legs and around our backs and we looked at each other, I don't think I've ever swam so fast in my life. What was it? I don't know. It's scary to know what is out there underneath us in the ocean when we enter their domain.

for everyone thinking that megalodon still exists it got extinct cause the water of the whole world became colder and...the closest relative to megalodon is the great white shark who lives in africa where the waters are warm
CR 2.0
CR 2.0 - 7 years ago
The great white and the megalodon once lived in the same oceans together at the same time period though. The great white still exists, so I feel like we should stay open to the idea of a megalodon shark; at least until we explore more of the oceans. Google some facts on how much of the ocean floor has been explored. or just how much the ocean has been explored in general. It's a shocking number.

We have submarines that go to incredible depths and can stay down for over a year. This b.s. the NAVY,COAST GAURD and the NAOA puts out about we only know 10% or whatever is complete bullshit! I really can't believe anyone still believes this they been saying it for30 years. Submariners sign oaths of secrecy. I was in Diego Garcia island in the 80s A British controlled U.S. NAVY BASE and at that time there was a Hammerhead named HECTOR that was known by everyone well over 25 feet in length. There are a lot of things in the Oceans and Seas just like space that the military definitely wants to stay hidden! U.S. NAVY RETIRED AIRCREW COMBAT SEARCH and RESCUE.

there siko in town Gaming - 7 years ago
I thought your channel was all about research. Megalodons cannot exist due to short food supply at the depths that most people think Meg's live at. Megalodons tend to stay near the surface, as their main prey type was whales, which also stayed near the surface of the water. Another limiting factor for the Megalodon is that at depths there is not enough oxygen for them to survive.

- The megalodon is the most likely cryptid to exist or so you or someone else says. I think Sasquatch has more sightings and is therefore the most likely to exist but I know it's real. When you wake up in the woods on two different campouts and there's an 8-foot tall or taller thing standing 18in away from you you tend to become a believer real fast. It was only me and a friend on two separate occasions. The first campout consisted of my best friend and I going camping on his uncle's farm. The second camping trip involved me and his older brother. We weren't there looking for sasquatch he found us. Maybe it was a he could have been a she who knows maybe it was a he she or just the opposite. There are probably hermaphroditic Sasquatch but that's irrelevant.

On both campouts we couldn't find a flashlight before we left. The campfire had died both times. It was barely glowing and there were no flames so it put out very little light. We camped in the woods on his uncle's farm and it was very dark where we were camping. Both times I hollered at my friend we've got company let's go. Nothing could normally sneak up on me or at least it couldn't when my intuition was still intact. I could be sound asleep and whatever was approaching me could be totally silent and I would still sense it and wake up. I didn't wake up either time until the thing was standing 18in from me. Native Americans say can vanish or appear at will right in front of your eyes. Apparently they can because that's the only explanation, I still woke because I sensed it. It should not have been able to do that to me.

I stood up immediately after calling to my friend and saying let's go. They each got up and followed me as I chased after the thing. The guns we had may have been a deterrent but they weren't firearms. There where many of them all around us and making an awful lot of noise. My Sheridan Silver Streak is a single shot .25 caliber pellet rifle virtually useless except as a club. Both times my friend had my machine gun BB gun and could have sprayed its eyes. There would have been a lot of eyes to spray since there were so many but we were only chasing one each time. We weren't running near as fast as we could but they are much faster than us anyway. I'm pretty sure our b@lls are what saved us.

We had a lot of crazy Adventures on that farm and experienced many paranormal things. We were 5 miles outside of Gratis Ohio on State Route 503, on the Richard Miley farm. Southwest Ohio took over from Oregon as the state with the most sightings for a long time. We had a lot of fun on that farm. I'm willing to bet that most people wouldn't have ever gone back for another camp out after either one of those experiences. We continued to camp for quite a few years after that on that farm.

While on guard duty overlooking the beach from high on a cliff I saw a shark swimming parallel to the beach. The thing was huge, and however wide it was(fin tip to fin tip), it never went farther than that from the beach as it swam north along the beach under Stilwell hall. Foraging/hunting for food right by the beach, from when I spotted him about a half mile south of Stilwell hall to almost a mile north.

Sea Monsters - Past & Present it has everything to do with scale when we’re looking at a video for ‘proof’ of size. If I stick my eye on a camera lense I’d look like a giant. Would that be proof of giants? No, because scale.
Ken Berrie
Ken Berrie - 7 years ago
sorry, but not45 ft. BUT 46 meters, from dorsel fin to tail , that makes it more then 150 ft long, and this was when i was in the army special forces, i flew chopers, cobras, the ah-1a-1xs a battleship with roters, my ship was hit and i made a crash landing near the coastline, pacific side. any way this shark was at least 70-to 90 tons, and took at least 1,000 rounds from my mini gun. be for it swam away, scared the hell out of me, and i don't scare easy... i know you know what i mean...
Marcus Stormm
Marcus Stormm - 7 years ago
Ken Berrie you saw a shark in Vietnam. It measured 45 ft from dorsal fin to tail. Ok,
1. What was it classified as?
2. Was it living or dead?
3. When was this in Vietnam?
Ken Berrie
Ken Berrie - 7 years ago
ok very good. however the shark i saw in viet-nam was clasifide a great white, BUT, it measured 46 meters in length from dorsal fin to tail, ?? huh ?? how is that possible?? if not a megladon?? it's mall or mouth you could stand in. thats a monster. and also there are other animals it could feed on in the artic..

Sea Monsters - Past & Present the video implies that due to the size of the animals in the video that they are possibly megalodons. If you asked a thousand people what they think of when they hear the word megalodon they'd say "a giant shark"

Who is "we" here and no, you did not differentiate at all between full-grown animals and "babies". All you claimed is "with no way to scale these it isn't proof of shite". That is simply ludicrous.

I never claimed they still exist, so what's with all this "Sorry to say but you still don't have any proof"? Moreover, you are aware, are you not, that these shark did not pop up into the ocean fully grown out of nowhere, nor did they grow to adult size in a few seconds once leaving the womb! You are aware, are you not, that not all animals become adults? It is simply a ridiculous argument to think: "Oh, that cannot be a meg, because it is too small", or to expect we would only find adult ones, if they were to exist. And that is exactly what you are implying with your first comment. So no, scale certainly does not have everything to do with it.If meg were around today, we would expect to find juvenile as well as sub-adult and adult ones with sizes ranging from 1.5m to 15m at least.
Marcus Stormm
Marcus Stormm - 7 years ago
Sea Monsters - Past & Present scale has everything to do with it. We're not talking about babies were talking about full-grown animals. Sorry to say but you still don't have any proof. They are extinct.
Sea Monsters - Past & Present
Sea Monsters - Past & Present - 7 years ago
Scale has got nothing to do with it. C. megalodon pups could have been around 1.5 - 2m large when born, so we would expect animals from 1.5- 18m range if they still existed...

95% of the oceans my be unexplored, but they have been well traveled for many centuries. It is more than likely that if megalodon did still exist, we would have a specimen by now. Yes, marine biologists are finding many new species annually, but they are very small creatures compared to a shark. And, as Brian Gibson so rightly points out, the marine environment has changed dramatically since the era of the megalodon, affecting all sorts of things like habitat, food source and a pretty good reporting device called homo sapiens.

vern yanke evolution wise if still alive, it would be a simple case of their food source changing to deep water animals and whales as the food near coastal areas became smaller. so they now live in the ocean depths.

Andrea De La Fuente the problem with megalodon is that it was a shallow sea predator that ate whales. Considering all the whale hunting that went on in the 1800's and early 1900's we should have some specimens caught from the whalers. Not just blurry, photoshopped and unsubstantiated photos.
Now if you want to talk about deep ocean creatures that would be considered sea monsters that we don't know about, I'm right with you.

We should be looking at what is probable and not possible. It is possible we are all just brains swimming in some fluid being probed by aliens and nothing is "real". If somebody wants to claim megalodons are alive and well it is up to them to show something credible for that claim. To date no one has come forward with anything useful. Until then there are plenty of sound reasons to proclaim this beast well and truly extinct starting with the fossil record. I suggest all these meg-lives-advocates consult the scientific research on megalodons instead of relying on such weak arguments. Just because the ocean is big and it deep doesn't mean all animals can evolve to live everywhere.

The photo taken by the Navy is to this day the ONLY evidence this world has of its existence. Sadly, by now, humans have most likely already hunted, skinned, and sold this poor creature.....We have do our very best to preserve what is left of this planet, otherwise certain doom is our fate!

When people alter the shots it makes it harder to see or understand what you are seeing. Idiots!! We only have one chance at this life and I would like to leave with knowledge to my next generation.

one thing the OP said that I agree with is, we don't know much about the ocean, we can't reach the ocean floor at it's deepest, And I'm sure there's thing down there we have never seen, If Megalodon's still exist, Who really knows, would love to know more about what's down there
