Both sharks and crocs have been around for hundreds of millions of years so they're both super succesful. So I guess they're equally tough.

Additionally, the shark is made of cartilidge, not bones. Considering the crocodile has the strongest bite force in the animal kingdom, and the sharks skeleton is made of the stuff that your nose is made of then the odds don't stack great for the shark. This is why sharks are easily beaten away by swimmers. They are actually very sensitive, delicate creatures. Try pinching your nose really hard and then figure how a shark would do against a crocodiles jaws. The results would be very messy, and very quick.
That we've actually seen photographs and witness statements of crocodile attacks on other shark species already so yeah....id definitely place my bets on the crocodile.

2. You claim there is no match for the great white in the open seas, yet they are hunted by the Orca if they find them. Id Orcas come close to the shark areas, the shark leave as fast as possible.
As long as its not very shallow water, the shark will take this home most of the times. About the same size, the crock can bite and hold the shark if lucky but not bite it in half and so on as their teeth are not ment to bite off like that. They tear off. Thats why they roll.
The shark on the other hand has very sharp teeth and they are ment to bite off.
