kayaks are meant for lakes, ponds and rivers. Fuck taking that thing out more than 12 feet away from the shore. Hell I live on lake Erie and I don't even take a kayak on the lake because sturgeons have been known to accidentally bump into the kayaks and flip them. (Most basic kayaks are nearly impossible to climb back into once you're flipped, this guy was lucky) People ended up drowning that way.

Kayaks are a cheap and easy way to get offshore for fishing, and their normalization of them lulls many into it with a false sense of security - everybody's doing it, can't be that hard, and it's only a few hundred dollars....

I'm not trying to give you a hard time, but you appear to be all thumbs when you got bit by the Dorado, and you lost your shit when the white shark had a go at it on the line. After you went over, I saw the camera view of your sticks falling away to the bottom and I thought, yeah, bloke didn't have the sense (or experience) to bungee them to the boat. Who does that? A newb or an old pro who's gotten complacent and/or cocky.

I'm not gunna say anything about getting knocked off your yak by the shark. Never happened to me but I can imagine the old sphincter tightening up REAL quick. Glad you got in ok, take care out there man, it can get dodgy real fast even without sharks.
