There had been some debate regarding the taxonomy of megalodon: some researchers argued that it was of the family Lamnidae and closely related to the great white shark (Carcharodon carcharias), while others argued that it belonged to the extinct family Otodontidae; presently, there is near unanimous consensus that the latter view is correct. Its genus placement is still debated, authors placing it in either Carcharocles, Megaselachus, Otodus, or Procarcharodon. The shark has made appearances in several media, such as the Discovery Channel's docufiction Megalodon: The Monster Shark Lives. I have seen several of your videos on MEGALODONS and I have a theroy that Great White Sharks are actually living Megalodons. Please tell me if your interested I would be VERY HAPPY to go in to detail about this.

There may be a 0.000000000001 chance it's still alive, but there's no reason, logical or otherwise, why. I mean, maybe it turned cannibalistic and survived until the waters began to get warmer, but that's extremely unlikely. It'd be gone within a year. Just like, say, the Dunkleosteus. People are only going on about Megalodon because it's a shark. I bet if we all knew about the Arthreopleura we'd be hastening to say it doesn't exist (Arthreopleura is a giant 5-meter-long centipede). Or, you know, Titanoboa, the 42-foot-long snake.

water is too shallow for a MEGALADON

And feed on algae
