Can't we all agree that since we have only explored 5% of the oceans, we have no idea what is out there?
your not special
your not special - 6 years ago
its fun to think we dont know much about our oceans so there might be a megalodon out there still from millions of years ago but its just not true facts say way different lol do some research and if it is as big as they say someone somewhere would have seen one by now mostly because 99% of the fish in our oceans cant swim very deep compared to how deep the ocean actually is...

I think its funny when people say we have only explored 5% of the worlds oceans where exactly do you get that number from? movies? lol its kinda like the myth that we only use and know about 10% of our brain which is proven not true and the myth was started by movies over the last 50 years I agree we might not have had a swimmer go over every single inch of the ocean floor but its a lot more than 5% we have sent people to the lowest part possible in the ocean and we have radar that can tell us what is down there for most places we have no reason to send people.....we search every inch of the land for whatever resources we can find the ocean is no different....

Can't you understand that it's impossible for a predator as big as a megalodon to survive in such deep water? There is no prey big or numerous enough to sustain them. Think people, jesus christ.

Yes, there are many theories regarding the die off of the carchorodons and carcharocles megalodons. They say the environment or changes in food sources could have led to a die off. Other theories as well.
Julian Labitad
Julian Labitad - 6 years ago
CR 2.0 megs were also larger so they needed large amounts of food to survive so megs wouldnt target smaller prey that much while the great whites can
Julian Labitad
Julian Labitad - 6 years ago
CR 2.0 great whites are meant for colder climates while Megaldon isnt. Thats why the megs died off , food were also leaving or migrating while competition ate all of Megs remaining options

Yea, I know it isn't common information, but the great white sharks have been in the oceans for about 16 millions years ago; while the megalodon remained in our oceans up until just 2.6 million years ago. These two sharks existed together in the ocean for more than 13 million years.

Good point, but the great white shark did exist in the oceans at the same time as megalodon. The great white as shown that animals can adapt to the types of changes you mentioned.
Markzilla 214
Markzilla 214 - 6 years ago
Yes but the question is that “how can it survive the cooling of the ocean 1.5 million years ago”, and its still very unlikely the megalodon could exist today but still there is that little bit of chance that megalodon could exist.

So if this so called prehistoric Megalodon shark still exists, then that means we all have aliens living in our back yards, and all you who cant get this shark out of your heads all of your names are

JImmy

For starters if that was a Megalodon not only would it have eaten everyone, but also destroyed everything around it. seriously? they are extinct, the only traces of this prehistoric shark anyone will ever find is some of its remains such as a tooth or 2.

first this is a compilation of footage of many sharks from different people possibly different places and I think it is a nice piece of work but does not give any proof of megs being alive and well and the huge dorsal fin between the boaters was NOT a shark more likely a whale surfacing second you all better hope megs are not still alive because people already get scared and worked up over big sharks like great whites and even bull sharks and tiger sharks  and lots of people want to kill them off  because humans have this idea that we are masters of land sea and air and do not respect the power and resilience of natures beasts who have a better balance with there environment than we as humans will ever have in our existence  yes I am pro beasts and I respect and understand them and there way of life

As much as I’d love to believe they’re still around. There is one piece of evidence against it. Megalodons hunted closer to the surface of the oceans. If they did still exist, as they were, we would have more sightings and more attacks. They could have evolved for deeper waters, but they would drastically different.

It was so big i nearly fainted. I stared at it and took a glimpse. my photographic memory will always be one i cherish, now i was hoping i could find it again so one day i can catch it, i would give the bones to the museums to hold onto until i have a settled area. Then i will keep it for myself in my fossil serendipitous bone gallery underground. Thanks for reading my feedback

i think it is possible for the Megaladon to still exist, after all, they discovered the Celocanth alive and well a few  years ago. Not only that but a breeding colony. No one truly knows what is out there until we have gone to the deepest ocean and the highest peaks and have explored everywhere in between can we say we truly know.

Until there is irrefutable evidence the debate will continue, like I have pointed out many times is the only evidence that Megalodon ever exists or existed is fossilized teeth,so any ideas about its shape, colour or habits are mere speculation or at best educated guesswork .So we must understand that that the sharks have an incredible number of adaptations so that we really don’t have a solid plan to conduct a adequate study to determine it’s continued existence .

I personally don't want a Megalodon  in the water near me , if I'm in a canoe or Kayak . From down in the water, both of those boats look way too much like a fish of some sort.  Megalodons are supposed to get as large as a standard sized school bus.  They could bite either of those boats in two, just trying to see if it tastes right. Watch some clips  here of grown hippopotamuses biting a crocodile  when they think it is too close to their young.  It's obvious they can break one like a human breaks a pretzel . There are clips of them throwing live crocodiles up in the air like rag dolls. I have a Megalodon  tooth that was found in a phosphate mine near the South Carolina coast. It completely covers my hand, and it is by no means the largest Megalodon tooth I have seen. All other shark  teeth I have seen do nor exceed about three inches.

Imagine how many more big fish live underneath us. It's idiotic to think we know all but we don't. Even land, forests, islands haven't been explored. Isn't the Earth unbelievable?
