It is a rare opportunity that one has to witness a battle of nature that is of such raw power, where the only certainty is that only one will survive and the clash will be violent and spectacular. Such was the confrontation that was witnessed 20 metres off the back of Adventure Bay Charters Shark Diving vessel Shark Warrior, at the Neptune Islands off Port Lincoln, South Australia. This video is an eye-witness account of the moment a pod of Orca's attacked and killed a Great White Shark while amazed customers and Adventure Bay Charters crew looked on. Every person on the boat that day will remember what they witnessed for the rest of their lives. Bk Jeong Um no, a single orca can kill a great white by itself really quickly, the only reason it took so long there was a pod of orcas and that's how they teach baby orcas to hunt. Also the shark was fleeing the entire time, one of the first things they said was the orcas were herding the shark. It really is not that hard for an orca to kill a great white.

Normally dolphins will just flee if a shark appears because they are easily faster than sharks and have more stamina but if the shark endangers young, it will die if it stays, and if it waits to late to run away from the dolphins it'll die due to injury. You are right in saying orcas have superior stats, and that is exactly that, they are whale sized dolphins enough said. That shark in this video just had the horrible luck of being within the radius of their echolocation, because they don't like fighting things as big or bigger than them and no animal in the world is dumb enough to get itself into a situation like that willingly (i hope). Only reason that many orcas would hunt a single shark is for training, if it was one orca than that'd mean it had a taste for G.W. liver that particular day. That shark was completely clucked the second they took interest in it.

Killer whales are far far more intelligent than Great whites. Great whites only know how to kill for food, Orcas do training exercises with their prey where they toss em around teaching their kids how to hunt. There was a 1995 account off the coast of San Francisco where a boat of witnesses saw an Orca kill a full grown GW in just a couple minutes. Then after the attack, area residents said the rest of the GWs fled the area for a long time.
Should give us a measure of their fear/intelligence. Or was it simply the smell of the blood of their own that triggered

I have seen no evidence to suggest that Orca are massively bigger in captivity. Either way, the average wild orca outweighs the average great white several times over. The smallest adult female Orca reach at least 23 ft - thats bigger than the largest great whites

Furthermore, Orca born in captivity often die before their 20s yet the oldest know wild orca is 103 years old. This shows how unhealthy captivity is for these creatures.

The way this orca dominated this shark is another example of their vastly superior intelligence and adaptability. This Orca knew that if it turned the shark upside down it would go into the trance of 'tonic immobility' because they HUNT SHARKS. If all an Orca has to do is flip a GW over to have its way with it, then it really is no contest.
Did you also not hear how ever single shark left the Farallons after this incident, right at the peak seal feeding times? They know when they are outmatched.

The other major advantage a GW might have is its bite force is definitely stronger, but still the orca is equipped with the dentition required to eviscerate pretty much anything.

The average orca is about 4 or 5 times bigger than the average Great white. The largest orca in record was over 10 tons. The largest great white a little over 3 tons. That's a big difference.
The orca is also faster and way smarter than a GW. All in all the only major advantage a GW has is its ability to escape via diving deeper as orca need to breathe air.
The only reason we fear sharks more than orca is orca don't attack people. If they did then they would be the true terror of the deep. We are fortunate they don't as some orca even kill Dolphins, their smaller cousins.
