I feel like a big problem in America is “healthy” food is like almost always also low calorie, or the healthy option at restaurants is like 200-400 calories. How are you supposed to meet your daily caloric needs eating like that, even if your just trying to be healthy? I find that I’m always struggling to FIND FOOD that’s healthy and has enough calories in restaurants and stuff

I love Meredith. I LOVE her personality, it's great. But I can't continue to watch her destroy herself with her eating disorder. It just hurts to watch. I've been such a huge fan for such a long time, and now when I see her, I cringe at the shape her body is in. She has no fat on her anymore, you can see it in the misshapen look of her shoulders and legs. She looks skeleton now. It's terrifying and so, so upsetting. I can't watch someone who I've cared about for so long destroy herself. I hope to GOD her parents are trying to get her the help she needs. I really hope people don't give up on her. I remember beautiful Meredith who was fun loving and was in great shape! This Meredith is low energy, looks so tired, frail, and sick. I just can't watch it go downhill anymore. Here's to hoping she gets the help she needs. Please, Meredith. You can't see the problem because you are sick. But when tons of people agree, you know it's serious.

The "fans" commenting positive things about her weight... this is not healthy whatsoever. meredith, i feel as if this time in your life and your body transition is not something that many of your younger viewers will not understand. they don't comprehend what true "health" means. i'm not saying that i do, but i'm a nurse and i've done a lot of studying on nutrition and i've spent plenty of hours in a hospital and mental health setting to know what anorexia truly looks like. i've spoken to these patients, i've heard their stories and i've seen their charts (their data in the hospital).

PLEASE do not let these comments get to you. it breaks my heart scrolling down this video and seeing all of these people being negative when you're the complete opposite. it's a lack of education, that's all it is. i hope you're okay, and still being true to yourself and radiating positivity.

ESWilliams09 I was trying to prove that you saying that just her weight classifies her as anorexic is false, because it could also classify her as many others things. Also, I didn’t group anorexia and bulimia together, that was the Mayo Clinic. I don’t know her weight so I can’t classify her as underweight, but from her apparent height the BMI classifies healthy weight range of 118 to 160, depending on body type, age, and life style. I’m just using facts.

ESWilliams09 weight loss is only one symptom of anorexia and could also classify her for cancer, Addison’s disease, celiac disease, COPD, Crohn’s disease, depression, diabetes, AIDS, Hypercalcemia, hyperthyroidism, Parkinson’s disease, Tuberculosis, and so on. Because she has one symptom of a disorder doesn’t mean that she has it. If she has an eating disorder she and her doctor would be the ones to know unless it gets bad. Right now, she looks like she’s gaining weight and muscle. She’s gotten better from what I’ve noticed when she made her video “addressing the situation”, she’ll get up to the point of being a healthy weight. Of course the only medically trained person here is the person who made the first comment. Going by the Mayo Clinic, symptoms of anorexia nervosa and Bulimia are: extreme weight loss or not making expected developmental weight gains, thin appearance, abnormal blood count, fatigue, insomnia, dizziness or fainting, discoloration of fingers, thinning hair that breaks and falls out, soft downy hair that covers the body, absence of menstruation, constipation and abdominal pain, dry yellowish skin, intolerance of cold, irregular heart rhythm, low blood pressure, dehydration, swelling of limbs, and eroded teeth and calluses on knuckles from induced vomiting. Just looking at one symptom does not diagnose. Also i don’t think she should enter another profession because she was observing and has a history of working with anorexic people who were DIAGNOSED.

I am sure her BMI is below 'healthy'. At the end of the day, she puts herself on camera, so it is only within our rights to comment on it. Working out like this may trigger other young girls who look up to her, it is IMPORTANT to inform them about what is healthy and what isn't. Nobody is hating, it is genuine concern. Yes she may be taking steps to improve, but constant reminder is sometimes necessary.

Just because she has muscle doesn’t mean she doesn’t have a problem. I have had an eating disorder, have been in treatment centers where I’ve met tons of other girls (and boys) with eating disorders, so I can recognize fairly easily disorders in other people, and just by looking at her, I can tell that something isn’t right. Especially since this is a recent change, she hasn’t always been this thin. In her most recent vlog where she does an updated workout routine, it is very apparent that she has little to no body fat and is underweight. The comments are disabled on that video, I’m sure because she was getting so much “hate” or rather concern for her well-being. The only difference with this video is that she has a spray tan, so she doesn’t look as pale as she normally does, which is giving her a false glow. I’m really worried about her. And, if by chance she doesn’t have an eating disorder, she is obviously educated on healthy eating, so she must know that this weight is unhealthy for her.

ESWilliams09 I do not support anorexia! I even said on a different comment that if it is an eating disorder it’d more likely be orthorexia. By different body types I’m saying that 120 pounds can look overweight on a person who’s weight goes to their upper body rather than someone who’s weight goes to their lower body. weight looks different on everyone, referring to the BMI calculator. Meredith just needs to adjust her calorie intake to even out the weight vs exercise. I also try not to hate on people, because I know from personal experience that hate makes things worse. I support Meredith because I think she is an amazing person, and if it is an ED support and help is the best thing to give, not hate. I know what it’s like to be asked if I’m anorexic and it’s the worst feeling ever, I used to love my body until people saw my body type was different than the thick, muscular, and overweight. I do not support anorexia, but I do support helping them and hate never works. Of course we do not see everything she does and eats, and we only see certain angles of her, a lot of her Instagram picks are angles to make her look skinnier and taller, so it could be making her look different, it’s all about angles, plus in her recent picture the tan line on her hip makes her look skinnier than she actually is.

MUSCLE DOESN'T MEAN YOU'RE NOT ANOREXIC. Actually, she might even lean more toward orthorexia. Regardless, she is not having healthy habits and it is worrying that you support this and think that it is healthy behavior and looks because IT IS NOT.
I don't know what you're saying about different body types either....she didn't used to look like this and she is now an adult woman and has to resort to restriction and extreme exercise to maintain this so it's not actually her body type.

I can’t for sure say that she’s at a healthy weight as it’s such a large range and she doesn’t disclose her weight, because a lot of people feel uncomfortable saying their weight. I’m just going off of what I see and know. This whole thing has been going on for about a year and she hasn’t really gotten worse and from what I see, she stopped loosing weight in July. Her body looks about the same as it did then, but more muscular. She probably just needs to manage caloric intake and exercise better.

yomsina judging by her Instagram, the anorexia comments started about a year ago, she’s gotten abs now and has gotten more muscle. I see someone who has a thin athletic build. From what I’ve seen her eat on her story, oats are good for gaining weight. She also works out quite a bit, meaning that she burns it off. She just needs to find a better balance to get a bit bigger. ( also, someone bingeing after being extremely underweight would kill them)

I used to be underweight and played multiple sports. I was never THAT skinny. This is not a healthy athletic body, you need some body fat. Maybe you're looking at bikini/figure competitors but she's skinnier than they are and they severely fuck up their bodies and nearly pass out and things while they're "cutting" (getting down to the lowest weight possible) specifically for a show.

ESWilliams09 by the looks of it she is gaining weight, going back a few months ago she was skinnier. She’s transitioning. No this shouldn’t be considered normal, but people shouldn’t be falsely claiming she’s anorexic either. Overweight shouldn’t be considered normal then if underweight can’t be considered normal. Looking at pictures of athletic women on google, she’s getting to their point. Her shoulders have always had that “lumpy” look to them from what I’ve see , even going back two years, you could see it when she stretched her arms. Also, everybody has a different body type and she obviously doesn’t work out every piece of her body. Underweight isn’t as horrible as people think it is, just like overweight. She’s carving her body how she wants it and it’s what makes her happy, so let her. I think by a few months to a year she could be a healthy athletic build, muscle takes time unlike fat.

Just because you have muscle doesn't mean you shouldn't have fat. Women need a higher body fat percentage than men do as well. She doesn't have enough body fat to properly protect her organs and her shoulders and things do look weird. I used to be naturally skinny but this goes beyond that and she clearly has some issues with eating/exercise but at the end of the day any recovery is up to her so there is no point in bringing it up. BUT there shouldn't be any encouragement either that this is "normal."

Eliza _ if you can see, back in the furniture shopping video, she was much skinnier than now, she is gaining weight, but in muscle. Right now she might be “unhealthy skinny” but gaining muscle isn’t as quick as gaining fat, it takes some time. I’m also not sure if she’s getting enough nutrients that she needs with the extensive exercise she does. This is NOT anorexia. If she did have an eating disorder, it’d be orthorexia (obsessed with working out and eating healthy), but I don’t think that’s the case and I don’t want to call her something that she’s not. I’m a person with a fast metabolism and I know how it feels to be called anorexic when in reality I eat more than an obese person. Since she does work out very often, I’m pretty sure her body will be filled out in a few months or even a year, I’m not a doctor. I’m just going off of my opinions and facts that I’ve leaned from health class.

She is extremely skinny and the way her bones stick out to make others jump to conclusions and call her anorexic. There is muscle because she's contantly working out, but what wouldn't be considered "healthy skinny" is when her bones are jetting out her shoulders. I wouldn't call her anorexic though, calling someone somthing obvi isnt solving nyting.

See this is the problem. Girls shouldn’t be admiring this... “I wish I had her discipline”. What discipline? The discipline to over work your body and starve yourself in a caloric deficit?? This only promotes eating disorders. I don’t agree with people bashing her but we shouldn’t be praising or encouraging this dangerous behavior. Or certainly look up to it.. I’ve lost too many dear to me from eating disorders (I am a competitive runner, eating disorders plague this sport). Their illnesses resulted in their death because it was often ignored.

To everyone commenting about her weight, it's true her body has changed when compared to a couple of years ago but do you think that other people close to her in real life including her family are not aware too? I'm 100% positive that they are trying to help too. I feel sorry for her getting hundreds of comments about her weight. I know that most people genuinely mean well and are worried but think about how it might be affecting her. An eating disorder is more than just a food problem, and I'm sure that these kind of comments are not really what she needs to read right now.

What I think we need to keep in mind, as you pointed out, is that eating disorders manifests itself through behavior, and the body becomes something measurable and tangible when other things might be out of control . It's about a lot more than food. We only see what Mere wants us to see, and we will never know what really goes on. That is an argument that can be used on both sides. But, as a person recovering from an ED (not gonna say which one, because that is not really relevant), I see, from the sides of her life that she has shown us, that some of her behavior might indicate an eating disorder. People react because of the extreme change her body has shown, in a very short period of time, which in itself can actually be an indication. BUT: We should be very careful with what we say and to diagnose people based on a few portions of their lives visible for us to see. I agree that no one should have to endure comments about their body, no matter the size, because we NEVER know what is going on, and we're very good at being our biggest critique. Having people point out every little thing about us is not helpful. What we need is support no matter what. However, it's in my opinion no doubt that something is going on, and I hope she is getting all the love and support she needs from her family and friends. She has such a beautiful soul and deserves the very best.

I was going to add that she might NOT even be anorexic which makes it worse since everyone assuming and accusing her of of being too skinny could lead to other issues such as anxiety and depression. I agree with what you said about overweight youtubers who don't get all these comments (although I'm sure they get their share of hate just like everyone else unfortunately) so why does everyone feel the need to point it out in every one of her videos and instagram posts. You can be overweight and be anorexic and you can be really skinny and not have an eating disorder, you cannot diagnose someone by just looking at them!! Losing weight can be more than just 'not eating', why is everyone assuming that she is anorexic. A lot of things can influence weight loss and weight gain. Mere has a very active lifestyle and eats really healthy food so she is obviously not going to have any extra weight. And like I said before, who knows, she might have an eating disorder but it is not for us to judge. People want to help, and they care for her, but it comes to a point where all of these comments can almost be considered as harassment. So whether or not she has an eating disorder, and for Mere's sake, stop judging her every move and let her close family and friends help her, because I'm sure that they care about her and that is she has any problems they are more aware of them than any of us are.

What I really hate is that people assume that she's anorexic! As someone who has a fast metabolism and is naturally skinny, being called anorexic when you're healthily skinny is the most hurtful thing ever. It's basically like walking up to someone who's overweight and calling them a whale. Even if she is anorexic, which I don't think she is, this could be extremely detrimental to her mental health. Making her hate her body that she's worked so hard for (she's got quite a lot of muscle and a small frame, which people I guess now mistake for anorexia) is hurtful. Signs of anorexia are: lack of emotion, refusal to eat, fear of gaining weight, hair thinning, dry skin, yellow skin, swollen limbs, and so on. I haven't seen her showing any of these symptoms and a lot of people don't want to gain weight, it's normal. I really think everybody needs to stop calling her anorexic, because it will not help. I'm 16, 4'11, and I'm 85-90 pounds depending on what my body is doing. Everybody has a different body type and people saying that's not her body type, how would you know, she's put on quite a bit of muscle since then, muscle and fat can both hide your true body type. Muscle can make you look bigger (that's what I'm trying to use since weight doesn't work), just like weight can. She looked bad a couple months ago because she was transitioning from having more fat than muscle to more muscle than fat. There's always going to be a stage where your body doesn't look great. Plus, I don't see people on overweight youtubers pages hating on them for their weight, so why do it to her? Not trying to hate, just stating my opinion.

I don’t find it off. Meredith has a unique opportunity to have a career where she can do this kind of stuff but most people have normal jobs. It’s not easy to just take time off work. Maybe the trip is free, but even if they could get the time off maybe they can’t afford to lose that income? Or other commitments like pets, kids, etc.

Marilou Mourlaas it’s the opposite for me, I have a fast metabolism, so eating doesn’t make me gain weight. The only way is for me to work out, which still barely does anything. I used to be so happy with my body until I reached high school and I was never asked out at all and all over social media is skinny shaming that skinny girls are ugly and aren’t real and because we don’t have curves we’re 12 year old boys. They’re so quick to say body positivity then turn around and call skinny people ugly. I’ve been trying to gain weight for a year now and I’ve only gained maybe 10 pounds but it fluctuates. People will call us anorexic and tell us to eat a burger when in reality I eat way more than them. These are the ages of overweight body positivity, not skinny body positivity because I rarely see anybody giving body positive to us, as you can see in these comments. we have the same struggles as overweight people, except they get stores dedicated to them. That’s why I hate whenever people call skinnier people anorexic, because not every skinny person is, most people want to be thick from what I see. The thing there is too much hate towards her in her comments section on all social media’s, it’s mostly seen on Instagram, hate doesn’t help anybody. I almost cried when I was able to wear a size 1 from Gordmans (I can never fit in size 1 and sometimes 0), even though it was still loose from mid-thigh down, it made me extremely happy. And when I bought my first women’s sized breeches, even though they’re fleece lined, it made me feel so much happier. It does get better, and clothes shopping gets less torturous. It’s still not fun and makes me want to hide in the clothing racks because my sister who’s a size I think 8 can find clothes with ease while I’m told to go to the kids section where pants are baggy and uncomfortable. I hope I gave you a bit of inspiration, because I haven’t given up. I’m finding things that work for me. I told my sisters boyfriend my weight proudly because I’d finally reached 90 and he shot me back down and told me to eat more food, now I’m back hating my body. Luckily I have a sister who knows how I feel and she told him that I eat more than her, but he continued. The thing is, you will never escape the hate of body size, but loving yourself and being motivated to make yourself who you want has really helped me. For me, a 4’11 girl who weighs between 85 and 90, gaining weight has helped me mentally and probably physically too. So long story short, gaining weight helped me a lot, and I hope it does for you too.
