I'm guessing the guy was handling bait/chum, and didn't wash his hands off before fiddling with the dive camera. Shark probably detected bait scent all over that camera, and thought it was another morsel.

Oh well, c'mon! If you go through a dangerous slum flashing money... I spearfish, albeit just lionfish, and in those cases blood spilling may be an issue. Though sometimes top predators don't even need to detect blood: they detect the spear! I don't get the same attitude when I just go with the camera, than when I go with the spear, even before using it. But again, if you don't do imprudent things, you can play safe.

...generally, I clear the water if I see a perch. And I'm an Aquarian for pete sake!...yet this fellow seems harmless enough. Actually, watching him cruise around made me think of the movie Scarface. the pic at 1:11 is not a tiger shark (wrong teeth), it looks more like a lemon shark to me (if you look closely you see that she has two dorsal fins of the same size).

@GerardoOchoa i know sharks are very gentle, i've dove with black tips, white tips, hammerhead, leopard, grey reef, caribbean reef, nurse and the gentliest of all, the whale shark! i was just saying that it is pretty comfortable to dive with them until a tiger goes in your direction and start eating your camera, in this situation things just change a little bit, what won't make me not want to dive with them, for me it will still be safer than crossing the street! im a shark lover! cheers

@TwinVulcan More than guts is matter of being careful, of knowing the nature of the animal and being thoughtful. The myth of the "killing" machine spread by media hype and tacky movies is not true. In my channel, if you want, you can see how I'm shooting a video while shark tagging (I was shooting the video, not tagging the shark of course). And by there there is another one of a nurse shark, though those are totally harmeless unless you start to annoy them.

@kozmon0t No, those chaps are shark lovers, as I am. I'd rather loss any of my cameras (some pretty expensive) than to kill a shark. Hell, I'd rather loss all my cameras than to kill a shark! This is not first time this camera grabbing happens, look around. Go to Google and write "shark grabs camera" and you'll see. As for your proposal of the camera inside the shark... what for? To film the walls of the digestive tract of the shark?

It looks somewhat like a close call but everyone acts very chill and focuses on the interesting footage obtained. I'm guessing it wasn't actually a very close call. It would have been pretty scary but the diver would have known exactly what to do had the shark came around another time?

@RicoCoracao2011 aww, it was just curious. Sharks don't exactly have fingers to touch things with. I'm not saying it's not scary, just understand that sharks are like lizards and use their sense of smell and their tongues for exploration because that's all they really have.
