My criteria:
- All sharks must stay in water so sharktopus and sharknado are automatically disqualified.
- How scary/suspenseful the deaths are.
- How likable the characters are... you have to root for the people not the sharks.
- The score. Absolutely important to have a good score to give the audience a scare.
- Shark effects... more points for creativity and using practical effects along with CGI. Even though Jaws doesn't hold up well, they came up with creative ways to compensate for a faulty mechanical shark (e.g. using the 'camera' as the shark.)

so i need help with something. i need to find a shark movie but i can't remember the name, but i can describe it so tell me if this sounds familiar because i would like to revisit it sometime. so from what i remember the movie takes places in an artic place with icebergs and such. our characters are part of a drilling rig as some of them do the drilling and the others the surveying . where they discover a huge underwater pocket in the ocean floor that bursts open. when they investigate in it they find huge jellyfish and a guy gets stung and is in one of the three subs as it has a problem so he goes back and goes to the med bay. but when they open the sub up they find the problem which turns out to be a coelacanth in one of the tubes. they think it's dead and stuff one idiot touches it. he gets bit so the solution is to take the nearby circular saw and cuts the vicious fish in half. but when they think everything is done when something cause the rig to shake. they look out sid via the sub launch which is at the bottom of the oceans to find a megalodon is clipping the rig supports so when they try to return the shark clips the elevator making them stuck so out of the two guys that waited cause the elevator was at full capacity so they try to correct the problem. however in the subs they are being circled by the shark who when the less important side character moves his sub is eaten and the shark flees to explore it habitate. so the other guy can correct the problem and thus every one is think of how to deal with the shark and decide to use c4 attacked to what i remember to be a harpoon and thus a guy has to sacrifice his life and that guy is the hardcore guy so then they blow the shark up and everyone leaves. but unknown to them a tooth of the shack floats slowly to the ocean floor resting there. meanwhile in a luxury boat in tropical waters has something large and deadly pass under it. and thus the credits role and that's all i remember on the movie so if you could please tell me the name it would be much appreciated.

Here I am wondering how the heck a fun movie like Shark Tale ranked lower than a pitiful movie with the worst graphics I have ever seen like Sharknado. I could only stand it for five minutes and I'm amazed I even made it that far. Can't argue with Deep Blue Sea making it to the list (except those were makos, not great whites) or with Jaws taking first. Jaws set the standard for shark movies.

I love how Brody acts at seeing the shark after chumming, like he's actually scared speechless. You don't need someone to scream their damn head off to show something is horrifying or scary, body language portrays it just as well. Like puking at something that smells bad or is excessively gory/brutal or just stunned in to silence at it.

Sharknado was a Youtube CGI skit that got way way WAY out of hand. Sand Sharks, Ice Sharks and Raging Sharks are better than that franchise.

Bait's a brilliant film though, I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. Definitely in my top 4 Shark films of all time.
