COZUMEL SNORKELING TIPS & Creepy Animals

Best snorkeling from the shore in Cozumel Mexico. After spending $40 on snorkel boat tours, A local told me that a place called Playa Corona was much better. You could snorkel from the beach and it was free. That was once true. After hurricane Wilma, the coral reef near the shore is gone there as well as the nearby Sky Reef. I’m not sure if the wave action crushed the reef to a pulp or if Wilma just buried it with sand. Probably both. The deeper reefs away from the shore are still intact and thriving well. You can take several snorkeling tours that will guide you. The best snorkeling form the shore we found was at El Presidente Resort and Spa. For three nights we stayed right on the crystal clear turquoise waters and lounged in the many palapas, bungalows, pools and hot tubs. Ocean sunset dinners were spectacular and The food was so fresh it was practically crawling off your plate. We ended up snorkeling from the beach there the entire rest of our vacation exploring a couple small coral outcroppings and the sunken barge thingie. You can rent snorkel gear at El Presidente and The staff was extremely friendly. All underwater video was shot by a GoPro Hero Black 5 Guitar music and "Sleep Walk" performed by Pecos Hank Schyma

6 people enough for a thumbs down :P
And kudos for taking that tick off that snake's head. You did it a favor. :D
Your state is famously associated with lots of stereotypes, which range from funny to creepy, but for me, the very stereotypical picture of a Texan stuck in my brain is that of HANK! Sorry ya'll pick up truck drivin' moonshine drinkin' pumpgun shootin' cowboys, my all time Texan is driving a TIT, he shoots only best pictures/footage in the world and all he drinks is coke spiced up with giant hail.
You country music guys reading this, how about one of you makes a country crossover tribute song to Hank? Here's an example how it might sound like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AZLUohDCGo
Cheers!!!

If I may, I’d like to make a recommendation to add to your list of quality adventures.
Since you two thoroughly enjoy snorkeling, I’d like you to check out Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt.
It has what I think is the best snorkeling/diving in the world!
I was deployed there with the US Army in 2010-2011.
Fun Fact: I watched the April 27, 2011 outbreak happen from there!
Anyway, the water there is so extremely clear and is teeming with life. The base I was on in the middle of town had its own beach, and I would snorkel there frequently. The coral reef there in a place called “Naama Bay” is pristine. The reef plunges straight down from a depth of about 30’ to about 400’, and you can see almost to the bottom.
And the WILDLIFE! It was like Finding Nemo on steroids!
Thanks for letting me write a novel in your comments section, and take care. I genuinely derive real joy out of watching your videos. I hope to run into you on the chase someday.

Coral bay up on the Ningaloo reef, accommodation is basic (you rent a house) but... In the water , whale sharks, mantas, acres of coral, fish (hundreds of speciez) humpback whales, sharks, sea turtles etc.(no crocs) While on land snakes, monitors, dragon lizards, pythons;, it's Squamata heaven.
The other place is Lord Howe island. Snorkeling is amazing; fish, fish, fish, turtles, nudibranchs... so many, many inverts-
smaller critters but way more colourful. BUT on land no reptiles but 2 species. Oh yeah , and the LHI stick insect. Lots of birds.
80% of the island is protected forest, very beautiful. Accommodation goes from basic to high end. Also tourism is restricted to 400 people so its very uncrowded. Biggest drawback with both places is they're hard to get to and therefore expensive. I reckon your wife would love lord Howe ; but Coral bay has Pecos Hank written all over it !
That is a three damn video.
Pretty damn good looking wife.
Damn creepy things.
And good damn playing! !!
On topic, you are a crazy SOB letting that scorpion crawl on your arm! LOL!
I can handle the Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes out here, but not a scorpion!
Yep. We would did a couple of shore dives at our hotel once. I don't think it's there anymore but we stayed at Plaza Las Glorias. Two of the most memorable dives there were the WW2 shipwreck and the Santa Rosa Wall. The Santa Rosa Wall is a 90' to 100' drift dive along a reef wall. Beautiful reef to the right and pitch black deep ass water to the left. It was like flying over the edge of a giant mountain.
I miss those days! If anyone gets the opportunity to dive or snorkel Cozumel, DO IT!
Edit: because cancun is too basic
