may I ask which moth did you visited Turks and Caicos? We're here at the Bight reef but the water wasn't clear as shown in your video, we wondered if it have to do with timing?

We were there in June. From what I understand March through May is typically the best climate. Honestly, I've never seen glassier and more transparent water than what we saw in Turks and Caicos but I've only been there during one 2 week stay.

when i went i saw plenty of barracudas, turtles and flounders did you see any? when i went i sayer in beaches resort so i had to walk for 5 mins to get there. i also saw two lion
fish ( volitans ) which are not native to that region but i believe someone let them go!

Sean- I saw the largest barracuda I've ever seen on a boat trip to the outer reef wall. I have it in one of my videos on my channel, it looked right into my gopro! I saw both Green Sea Turtles and a less common Hawksbill. I saw a couple of flounders, my other turks and caicos video has a clip of it right at the beginning. Did you get the chance to snorkel Smith's Reef as well? It was also exceptional.

I used a GoPro Hero 2 at 1080p 30fps, some at 720p 60 fps. The better than normal colors in this video is in part due to extremely clear water conditions in Turks and Caicos and video in water mostly less than 6' deep. I use Final Cut Pro X for video editing and did add some saturation and contrast to most of the clips. If you can also boost your red channel on your video editor that can sometimes help restore the reds that are lost as you go deeper in the water.

I used the Hero 2 with the dive housing. You need the dive housing with Hero and Hero2 because the housing has a round lens that makes things blurry underwater. The Hero3 Gopro wouldn't require a separate housing. I didn't use any underwater filter, the further that you dive down the more you would need to use a red filter. I have never used a filter, but I did adjust the color levels a bit in Final Cut Pro until it looked right.

I was using a "quikpod" point in view monopod. It reaches out about 5' and is great for getting up close shots. I have used the head mount, but since I started using the quickpod I really haven't used anything else. I'm jealous that you live on the islands, that would be my dream!

Awesome. Are you using the head mount? I live pretty close to Kealakekua Bay, which has some of the best snorkeling in the world. I need to start shooting some vids myself.

Raj- Thank you! I didn't use a red filter, I did adjust the color using Final Cut Pro X....bumping up the red level. The water in Turks and Caicos is so calm and clear, it is a great setting!

Yes, this was with the new gopro dive housing. It works great, definitely needed for underwater shots.

Thanks! I enjoyed your videos as well. I just returned from Kauai and have some great videos at Ke'e where I saw more turtles than I have ever seen.
