I'm disappointed with the visuals. I mean the flip chart easel halfway underwater is engaging, but I really feel a simple PowerPoint would have really gave dimension. Just being a smartass--seriously thanks for doing this. Be in your beautiful state doing just this. Cheers.

I always thought that the tube was for obtaining air intake while you are under the water. is this true? or do you go under water holding your breath? I'm so confused. it looks like the tube is for getting air into your lungs under water right?

+WAR HOG Hello. You don't. You get used to the feeling of water around your mouth. The sensation takes practice and there is more to it than I want to discuss here without having you in a pool to actually show you the technique.

Thank you Laura. Will keep that in mind. Grew up in Florida but I fall into the "poor swimming" category you mentioned and I probably fall a little into the "claustrophobia" category I guess. I was a little panicked when the snorkeling mask went on.

Dear Alex, Thank you for your support and encouragement. We have places to snorkel to that are not beaches but rock jetties. You better know what you're doing there because if not properly geared up you can end up with lacerations from barnacles and coral cutting you. Appreciate you watching Alex.

Hi Raiders, I think next time you're in Florida you should look me up. I work with many people with anxiety and fear caused from poor swimming, near drowning or claustrophobia. Miami and Lauderdale have better snorkeling than Key West and you don't have to take a boat out to get sea sick.

Dear Frog, Snorkeling is relaxing and floating on the surface of the water. Not swimming like Michael Phelps and its not a race either. Hi Joyce, many people wear ear plugs that allow the equalization of your ear's air spaces without getting wet. Personally, I have never tried them but many of my clients do wear them. Have you tried or have heard to ear plugs?

If you stay close to the boat with a tag line, no you don't need fins. But if you want to swim in a current or cover territory you need them yes. Yes, we hold our breath underwater with a snorkel. No we do not hold our breath on scuba. Whether snorkeling or scuba diving, in both you always breath normal.

Nice video Laura. Tried snorkeling for first time on January 12th in Key West. I was the slow learner in the group of guys, but I got over my anxiety and had fun. I want to learn more so I can snorkel better the next time. And maybe get over anxiety enuf to scuba some day. Will check out all your videos.

Great video Laura. But snorkelling isn't rocket science unless you come to The beach from a country the dosent have a beach such as Asia or the UK. Here in Australia we all grow up swimming at the beach and snorkelling every weekend. So everybody stop being so mean. If you know how to snorkel why would you watch this. It's for amateurs! Dont listen to them Laura.

Yes, bad fitting fins, ones that are too tight will cramp your foot and could give you a blister. Too stiff a fin can cause a cramp. There should not be any burning, pinching or discomfort of any kind when you have your fin on your foot. Many people have ankle, knee and lower back issues. Some fins are great others are worthless pieces of plastic. Beware of the scuba shop that tries to sell you the most expensive latest and greatest. Another reason to coach with me.

You will not go far if you do not have fins. They are a good idea to keep your legs from fatigue and just in case you get in a current fins can help you swim better with less effort. No you do not need them per se if you are staying close to the boat or shore.

Thanks for the question. Your question has two parts so you get two answers. Lets start with clearning it on the surface. You spit AIR into it as if you were spiting a watermelon seed and that is only if you went underwater and the tube filled with air. Part 2. When underwater you are holding your breath and you can stick your tongue in the whole so water doesn't go into your mouth. Just DO NOT breath in underwater with a snorkel at anytime.

when you spit in your snorkle do you mean blow into it, and when your under water, wouldn't it go down the pipe and into your mouth, cuz your mouth is actually open, cuz you have got your mouth around the mouth bit?? im not sure on it
