Night Snorkeling with Manta Rays 5/27/2010 Kona, Hawaii

Night snorkeling with manta rays, on the big island of Hawaii. We booked our tour through Sunlight on Water, and we highly recommend them! We saw between 5-6 manta rays that night ranging in size from 6-10 foot wingspans. The light from our flashlights attracts the plankton which attracts the mantas. There are scuba divers on the bottom of the ocean shining lights upward and the snorkelers were shining lights downward, creating what kind of looks like, to me anyway, an underwater city. Manta rays are harmless animals, they do not have teeth and they do not have stingers. This is something we definitely look forward to doing again! I shot this video using the Flip camera with underwater housing.
