We go to the carribian every summer and all the reefs are only 5ft down in the water, some so shallow ur chest scrapes on the reef. But i guess it depends where you go.

TBH snorkling is rediculous. Diving on the other hand is awesome because you can get much much much closer to what you actually want to see :). I have nothing against people who like snorkling could be fun but my opinion is that I rather go down to what I want to see instead of looking to it from like 5 centimeters in the water.

Not always. Freedivers put it at right and scuba divers put them at the left side because their air is comming from the other side. Sorry my english :)
