i remember going for snorkeling in phuket. I was practicing my breathing technique on the boat and I told myself to continue doing that while in the water. But when i jumped all the seawater just entered my tube and i instantly knew what a retard i was.

when freediving, it is important that before a dive you are very very relaxed, and breathe comfortably. Almost in a trance. it is easier to breathe and far more comfortable to breathe with a snorkel with your head in the water, than you trying to keep your head out of the water and breathe.

you should try snorkeling with weights. you can stay at depth without fighting your positive bouyancy, a much relaxed experience.

spearfishers have a different diving technique called duck diving to minimize noise. this requires you to lift only one left as opposed to two.

Nice demonstration, Thanks for sharing,,, I think the belt should not be longer than 6 inches past the buckle for security purposes, and also there's no need to pinch your nose (or equalize), when you are ascending. Nice style, smooth,,,,,

You can't breath with it under water. The purpose of the snorkel is to let you face downwards while swimming around at the surface :-)
