Thank god nothing man made has destroyed the Hawaiian reefs like the ones off Florida during the BP oil spill. After starting a reef tank from frags given to me by my friend and his 100 gallon I have a whole new respect for coral and how unique they are but very very slow growing especially the hard corals. The growth you see in these reefs is hundreds and hundreds of years. I cant even imagine how long it would take to become a hard coral the size of a coffee table.
