Snorkeling with Whale Sharks in Oslob Philippines [ GoPro Hero 3+ Black ]

Watch in HD!!! Snorkeling with Whale Sharks in Oslob Philippines An unforgettable day, swimming with the whale sharks in Oslob, Philippines. Oslob is 2-3 hours south from Cebu City and can be reached by bus. We left Cebu at night time as we heard it's best to snorkel with the whale sharks in the early morning (6 AM). Snorkeling with the whale sharks cost about PHP1000 (~USD22), almost every dive resort in Oslob offers the trip. Included is snorkel gear, a life vest (that nobody wore) and a lesson before on how to behave next to these giant animals. It was an unforgettable experience getting so close (but don't touch!) to the gentle whale sharks, they are such beautiful creatures. If you like this video, check out my blog! http://www.JustOneWayTicket.com More info about the video: Recorded with GoPro Hero 3+ Black Edition. First and foremost, we should understand that this Gentle Giants are WILD fishes!. Whale sharks are migratory animals, this means that they need to swim from place to another place for them to survive. Not just looking for food but also for mating (breeding). If we allow this whale sharks to be isolated in just one area, there is absolutely a change in their behaviors as well living in their natural habitat. OSLOB is a very nice place with beautiful beaches. If this Giants visit this place in a regular season it is indeed a blessing and Oslob is lucky to have them. But please stop feeding them!

The fact that they are the biggest fish in the world, they are living in wild, and the oceans are definitely huge....to have an encounter with them is amazingly great and a privilege.

If you want planning to travel in order to experience swimming with this "Largest Fish in the World".... Do not do it just because you just wanna see them with your eyes or like you wanna tell everyone about your encounter that you want to take the "best photos and selfies ever" and make footage of "best getaway awesome adventure" with your "branded expensive water proof cameras" and upload it to youtube to make thousands of viewers or followers... DAMN! Better go to the zoo or ocean parks! there are plenty of marine animals swimming in the aquarium rather huh!

Look for them, SEARCH for them! To swim with this whale sharks is one of the rarest thing to do on earth! And if that moment happened, it’ll be one of the memories in your life you'll always remember. Forever

As magnificent as this encounter looks to be, contributing to the Whaleshark-Snorkelling in the Philippines is the wrong thing to do.
They are teaching whale sharks that boats and humans mean food. The whalesharks are now observed to actively approach boats instead of avoiding them which in the end means their death as they lose normal feeding patterns :(
Please do your research before you do a 'Whaleshark' trip. There are places where you can see them without endangering their species. All the best!

Oslob is one of the tourist attraction in Cebu but there is more beautiful place you could be. One tour site would be Moalboal.

Hi Joseph... the bus is like 3 USD, we didnt stay in Oslob, we took another bus afterwards to Dumaguete. Snorkeling with whale sharks cost around 20 USD incl. gear, please not that prices increase every year.

Actually I don't remember, we took the first one right where the bus drop us off. All the dive schools along the beach have the same prices, I doubt that there are big differences. Just make sure you have mask and snorkel included.

Yeah just stressed to the max trying to get a visa then saw this video. on embassy website it says I must show an outbound flight regardless of my finances or how long I wish to stay? So if I go to the embassy in person things might be different ? I've heard A lot of stories about people not being able to board their flights to the philippines due to having no evidence of an ongoing flight ?

+Fred Vasey-reed Most countries have that idiotic "policy". But it is very seldom implemented. It's usually the airlines that are trying to be strict about it. I guess it helps with their revenue especially if they overbooked.
Seriously, that is a stupid policy most countries have. But I don't think it's enough reason to be ill-mannered. The blog isn't about only one country or countries that require return/onward tickets, nor is this the only video she made. So pull that stick out your arse.
Fred Vasey-reed
Fred Vasey-reed - 9 years ago
Well I don't know if you've been there recently but this can't be done anymore. In from the UK where we usually always get a month in arrival. Before boarding my flight they asked to show an onward flight. Other people were stopped form boarding.

Oh oh someone has a bad day. Where are your manners? Btw, it's not true. I'm the living proof that you can enter the Philippines with a one way ticket. Did it plenty of times. Just get a visa beforehand at the embassy you can enter with a one way ticket, never had a problem. Have a nice day!

Hello there,
I will be there in 3 weeks time, just one question, what mount were you using whilst in the water to film with? I was thinking the wrist strap because I didn't want the head strap slipping off?...I also have the pole as well but thought that would be way to clumsy in the water...Cheers geezer!

Great video, I went Oslob a few months ago and I agree it's a fantastic experience.  I actually stayed Oslob and there are lots of places to stay for all budgets. The owner of the resort told me the best time to see the whale sharks is actually late morning, not sure if that is correct. He told me many locals come early to keep out of the hot sun. You should of tried going to the waterfalls after the whale sharks before you went to Moalboal, it's really nice!

Your Blogs and videos sold me to visit El Nido and Siargao. Now this video just sold me to visit Oslob and dive with the whale sharks. Will you be writing a blog about this trip? I would love to know which whale shark dive resort did you visit and if you would  suggest it? And also how much is your bus fare? My whole travel guid to the Philippines is based on you blog, I can't wait to read this one.

Aaaaw thank you so much! The bus fare wasn't much, below 200 PHP and actually we went with the first dive school that approached us at 5 AM in the morning. Unfortunately it wasn't sunny when we were there, the sun came up after we were done. You definitely get brighter and better underwater images if the sun is out.If  you shoot with the GoPro, still swim away from the sharks, they're huuuge, it was almost impossible to get the whole whale shark on video. It's really amazing! Enjoy it!!
