That break looks a lot like the place I moved to for the summer and would go to often for weekends etc.. At the start of summer after my 3rd year of HS I went to a concert and brought home a girl. My Mom opened my door in the morning and said who is that. I nugged her asked her name and told her. I got booted and moved into an abandoned house on the middle of the cliff oceanfront opposite the break. The cove was full of lobster and food was great and cheap. Beer was 25 cents a bottle in the bars. I sold boat rides from Ensenada to Todos Santos to surf and fish turned in bottles from campers on the cliff top on the break side too. 17 years old and could by liquer go to bars and nightclubs and have girls over for after parties. It had a block wall with iron gate a big fire pit and shed under a water tower to lock stuff up. I had a 4x4 too. PARADISE BACK THEN. It was K38 Baja Mexico 30 years ago. GOOD TIMES GREAT WAVES

I was born on this mountain 99% of all the socalled locals are just LA kooks. This video is called 10 to 20 feet. Guess what these waves are all well under 10 feet. The day in this video everyone seemed cool, you're are right about surfing these places on the biggest days, hassles go down.
It's your car that can get messed up most times, especially this place!
Even parking a 1/2 mile away in front of someone's house.
Make sure to take off any revealing plate frames or stickers on your car that shows you're from out of town can help?

I think there was maybe 3 guys who took off on the peak of a set wave, but not a single person took off on a set wave for the bigger sets which was the only time it looked like the mushburger hollowed out...the point break a long ways to the north with infamous heavy localism is a much better wave than this and people don't make videos of that wave when its going off.

Major's bay Kauai is better. It's hollow on the inside after a long wall. This wave holds up well for body surfing, then it goes soft.
It's obvious that these kooks don't have the cajones to body surf this wave. It's doable with just fins.

Nice spot...looks like it would take epic height and volume to make this place shut down..... swells swing in pretty quickly, and tightly stacked, so she doesn't give up her charms too easily. A bigger and faster version of the right at Garbage/Sunset Cliffs/Pt. Loma. Even the surroundings look the same.

There were a lot bigger waves coming in than shown on this video, I did not hang long!
I went to Redondo Breakwater and scored 4-5 guys out and HUGE barrels!!!!

I've never been comfortable in surf over 10 foot. I got scared in big Mexico once, when it was breaking at 10-15 and I got caught outside during building swell at night. I respect the surfing of anyone who maintains control in big surf. However, the localism at certain spots around the world does go too far. I rescued the little brother of one of these guys back in the early 90s. He was going to drown. They had the nerve to want to fight me on the beach, even after the rescue. Fortunately, I had seven non surfer friends with me and they are/were all world class martial artists. In retrospect, we probably should have taught the lokes a lesson that day, but we left peacefully. They know it. Some of them remember it, but these are the stories that they never tell.

Yeah definitely seems like there's more respect when the waves get serious. Maybe just because the waves take all your attention, no time for petty hassling. When I lived in SD, I was always surprised at how the lineup cleared out when it got over 10 feet or so. Made me realize how many we see on an average day are kooks.

the bombs looked fun. a few looking a little hairy. Didn't understand why everybody was taking off on the shoulder and not the biggest part of the peak. saw a few guys catch a few bombs but hey, they were have a lot of fun. Plenty of room on those waves for 2 or 3 guys. Look at Waimea when its 15 plus, 4 guys on a wave! If all your doing is going straight with a few bottom turns you should be able to do circles around each other.

Video always knocks it down a little and I am taping from about 100 feet up on a cliff.
The guy that blew this thumb nail cover shot 0:19 came in after that wave and told me he was dragged and pinned underwater for 2 and a half more waves after that!
He said he was seeing stars and almost faded to black!
If you notice the clean up set starting approx 2:57 a couple of those guys did not come up for awhile also!.....

+Bread and Circuses Darn winter is over and Aloha Bay ( Lunada) needs big west swells!
It's ok smaller too but not worth it.
Right now the waves are on the crummy side in-between seasons.
In April we can expect 1 or 2 SSW southern hemi swells hitting more in the Orange County California area, Huntington Beach, Newport, Salt Creek, Trestles, setting up for summer.
if you're lucky you can catch a big clean one?
Best chance to catch decent waves and ( lots) of women in bikini's for this time of year is in the Huntington or even better Newport area on the beach.
Cheapest hotels not sure but there are very many around.....

Is it just me, or are all these amateur videos on You tube done by non surfers? Makes sense to me as real surfers would be out in the water on days like this. Or, are lame people trying to be opportunists and capitalize on a video of real surfers? Seems the latter to me. Lame folk with video cameras hoping to make a few bucks on others' adventures. Surfers know this is true by what the video focuses on. Horrible videos by those that know little about surfing. Parasites.

You're totally right about my video production and editing.
I am on limited money and time available for expensive computer and software stuff.
I do just basic clips of a session and try to show the entire rides, break, and not chop it up too much.
Also like to stay away from adding music and have simple live sound of the waves etc...

You mean show you how to record and edit a surf session? I'll be at my secret spot far away from there and will therefore not be filming, though if I did it would be way better than this amateur hour footage. I criticized the filming, not the surfing. Like many others, I am sick of checking out a video only to be annoyed by the weak use of camera and choice of what to show, etc. If you put it on You Tube we expect something above a grandmother filming style. Otherwise you steal a few minutes out of a person's life.

When possible we take turns on camera, he turned out to be very under boarded this day and was one of those guys getting smoked by that large outside clean up set!
It is much bigger than it looks from on top of the cliff, and yes looks mushy, also watching through a video camera knocks it down a lot!
If you like stay tuned for Redondo Breakwater when I went out later this day up to 20 foot faces and very hollow!
Not saying I did much better.

Well the drop isnt that vertical. More shoulder than anything. But I am impressed with the size of the wall of the wave.. And if heavy local-ism persist here, its due to the fact that nobody has heard " Lunada, and because its not a world class break or a surfing destination. So the locals wanna think they have something special.. Instead of Lunada, it should be called "Younada Beach" I have never surfed there. But it infuriates me when I hear surfers practicing anti- surfing attitudes. Everyone is entitled to the ocean. God gave every one equal rights to it. I love surfing here on my Wavestorm. I usually come in a minivan, and bring along some friends. Never less than 6 of us. We bring lunch and set up at the base of the cliff. I love to ride with my Go Pro mounted to by board, and post all our antics to cheer up the bay boys that might have missed the session.

During our winter vacation when the surf's up at Lunada Bay, the family and I like to bring our fluorescent boogie boards and knee boards down there right by the point. We set up camp with tents , card tables, sleeping bags, and our i pads to watch movies. We often roast weenies and marshmallows at night. Then we break out the acoustic guitars and the bay boys come and join us to hold hands and sing Kumbaya my Lord around the camp fire. It's a great time,and the kids love it!

looks like a great wave that first guy had the best one and he fell ,i bet he was bummed. Looks like you could get some deeper ones than the ones ridden but its easy to say that here watching compared to being out there. Sunset beach is way heavier but for LA this is a pretty good point break. Good they keep the crowd down cuz every other place in so cal has way too many guys who have no respect for anyone. Not to sure about throwing rocks or busting up cars though but some order has to be kept to keep it the way it is.
