25 years back I lived right next to this “secret spot”, used to check it everyday with my bike because even if it’s small and the point doesn’t break there’s a small but fun one inside.back then if the boys saw you film or take pictures of the surf they would throw the camera in the water over the cliff and if you didnt complain they might have not punched you out.one small day at the point Kelly dropped in on me and apologized profusely. I told him on the contrary, it made me feel good inside.that spot tubes and handles the biggest swells,the crowd just moves up towards the second rock point further out,the two points then connect and form the gnarliest barrels.

I like Slater but judging by how many waves he got vs how many people there were, I'm guessing he wasn't exactly lining up..I fucken hate when the same guys paddle your inside over and over again and then some how if any one drops in on them their the worst fucken human on the planet..I don't play that game..keep fit, and if you feel you been waiting long enough, out paddle all fuckwits for priority when the waves come!

disagree its part of the game to be on the better part of the wave. I usually get a few and if I get too many I dont paddle for the next few waves. but I hate people who drop in because its dangerous as hell. No excuse for drop ins unless your a kid. I damaged too many boards from drop in fucks. I dont mind if its an accident but when its on purpose or they just dont look at all I think its just selfish surfing. dont drop in or snake. catch too many waves lket a few waves go for others. JUst common sence not to drop in but so many fuk wits do because they make up their own rules.

+stop censoring me I have to say mate - I was surfing at Bingin with him and he was a perfect gentleman - took turns, called people into waves and didn't snake anyone. To be fair, in a lineup like that, the best surfers are always going to get the biggest share of the waves anyway, just purely with their better positioning. If you notice, there aren't that many people even paddling for the waves he's taking. He's sitting right on the peak and taking them pretty late with a steep drop. From what I saw at Bingin, he calls a lot of people in, even when he has position.

This was Honolua Bay a place where u are almost guarenteed to get dropped in on at least once in a session. He demonstrably isn't the best footballer ever, whereas Slater, by any sensible measurement, IS the best surfer to "touch the face of this earth" as you so eloquently put. 11 world titles, he's pushed the boundaries of what is possible on a surfboard for his entire career (unlike the current crop of air reverse one trick ponies), he has had a massive impact on surfboard design, in what used to be a fiercely traditional industry, and, to top it off, he's one of the most humble people ever in and out of the water.
