The fact that most of these comments are from girls is what's really very disturbing. It tells us what young girls care about, and those comments outnumber the ones from the boys.
I am sure you will have an amazing career ahead of you and plenty of sponsorship.

True story
Yip. Being told by her parents to spread eagle when jumping into her fathers arms. NO child does that naturally.
I agree. The child is living her dream.
I was lucky enough to also and to a certain extent I suppose many many children do too, unfortunately many don't.
HOWEVER; I doubt she went tout to get a personal coach and put her name down for specific gym training .....
Let her enjoy her dream. Don't push her, because thats what is happening here even if the father does say he won't be dissapointed if she changes sports.
I learned how to surf as a young pre-teen then gave it up because I became easily discouraged/kept comparing myself to others who were better than me and made a million of other excuses not to go.... In the back of my mind surfing was always something I wanted to get good at but had just failed to put in the required effort and time.... Now at 24 yrs old I surf almost everyday in some of the best surf beaches of Southern California and it is the best feeling. I will never stop. I have acquired the love for the deep blue which won't ever go away.
I was a tremendous & gifted athlete & when I had kids I vowed to not influence them & let them discover their own passions. We supported it as long as they wanted to do it. My kids went on to do really well & not in any sport that I did & am so glad.
