Footage is amazing but the music is really bad - just doesn't represent surfing in any way, shape or form.

@mrbaja.. That wave is over at Teahupoo, and yes it will more then likely hurt. The wave is completely heavy, because of the transition from 2 feet deep water, to idk how deep but really deep, it causes the wave to be so thick, and big. So failling at the wrong time can be really critical

well that wave breaks over 6-8 feet of water and right onto a super sharp reef. so the fall doesn't always hurt. it like jumping into a pool, it wont hurt unless you land wrong. but the ocean floor is was really hurts.

Yeah it can hurt you, specially if the wave posts your board back like a fiberglass Christmas card, straight up the clacker. Then theres also the reef to hit and sometimes lose pieces of your body on because it is coral reef.

I'm pretty sure these guys have been training for moments like these. if you wipeout, the hold down is somewhat intense, sometimes lasting over a minute. It is possible that you will drown, and if you are not prepared enough, you will face the consequences.

The reef is also not far from the surface of the water, and most of the time you will come up with cuts and scratches.

From experience, i can say that being held under an 8ft wave is not fun, so in this being over 15ft and with Teahupoo being a very powerful wave, there are serious risks that these guys are taking in order to have some serious fun (if they make it) :)

I imagine that it is not nice but I just want to know if it's really dangerous and if you can just come out with serious injury or if you will drown. I mean perhaps it is also true that you have to endure big pain, but that you usually get away without serious injury. I just want some Information about this Topic. Thanks.

The 3rd wave at 1:09, looks like Cloudbreak, is the fucking wave of the century. A magnificent example of the power and might of an ocean swell passing over a well structured reef in shallow water and its challenge to man.
