His dad is a roofer, carpenter and still works construction and he's in his mid 60's. I know his dad and have surfed with Joel and his dad Joe on numerous occasions at Cardiff Reef. They did not grow up with a ton of money. Joe still surfs after work to get the dust and dirt off him after a long day of hard labor.

I grew up in Southern California, and I have seen what you are talking about. I grew up poor in a small town, then moved to the beach in high school and saw how rich kids lived. It does make you kind of jealous, or envious. Joel Tudor was raised in a priveleged area, which is Encinitas CA. I was the poor kid surfing with all the rich kids. And yes, having money and time makes you be able to surf better and ride nicer equipment. The myth is true.

That's a cool board quiver. All of those retro boards look like a lot of fun to ride. I surf down in Cardiff where most people ride old school boards. Keep on shredding Joel you're my inspiration.

I kind of agree with you. He tried to snake me one time at Cardiff and I wasn't having it. He top turned back and I came around him and he wiped out. One of his many fan boys berated me about him, and I just gave him the finger and went about my business.
